From what I have read on this forum I can't understand why anyone would join Neotel. It doesn't make sense. Perhaps someone could explain it to me?

Don't get me wrong I can't stand Telkom, they have been ripping us off for years. But on my ADSL 4Mb/s connection I normally get at least 3000kb/s to the UK and USA, ping times are under 500ms, sometimes a lot lower and upload speeds are 350-200kbps.

Neotel aren't able to provide that sort of service, even when I had a 512kbps connection it was faster than the reports I am seeing in the forum.

My Vodacom 3G card provides better speeds.

Neotel, I think you need to re-look at your technology, you don't appear to be providing broadband. I remember an article a few years back where broadband was defined as a solution that allowed a download speed in excess of 1Mb/s, you're not providing that.
Until you can provide a solution that provides more than I am getting with Telkom, I will stay with them. Hopefully their caps will increase this year

At the moment the only thing Neotel has going for it is cost and the fact that it isn't Telkom. I suppose one out of two isn't too bad for a start up.

I'm interested in the Lite uncapped account simply because 1gb+ downloads (Patches, programs, etc. ) are becoming the norm everywhere you look and never having to worry about looking at a download meter is worth the low speeds to me.

Neotel is an option to me as I'm in a complex and they dont want to allow Telkom Lines.
So Neotel gives me internet access as well as a home phone.
Plus R999 for Uncapped internet, yes it has a few slow times but its still new.
100 gigs a month for R999 and 2 hours free to telkom numbers, not bad.

Neotel NeoConnect Lite Uncapped works great for me, not as fast as my previous 2 ISP's Telkom Adsl and Iburst but:
1. I download on average more than I did with Adsl and Iburst.
2. I drink 3 times as much beer as I did on the previous ISP's and still save money.

What more could you want ?

I think you're confusing kbps and kB/s. On my NeoFlex I get 10GB of data for R699. I download in excess of 1800kbps, upload around 400-600kbps and my latency was 203ms the last time I tested. What would your 4Mbps ADSL cost you for 10GB of unshaped data including line rental, ADSL rental and ISP costs?

With the atrocious performance at the moment I would suggest looking elsewhere or at the minimum postponing any application until the overall reports have improved.

Not everybody has had any type of poor performance. So I'd say depends on your area. I'm not aware of people other than a few on the forum having problems.

Give it a month or two. I joined Neotel in August last year, but things only went South 'round about New Year's.

Its amazing how the FEW, expand over the course of time.

I thought I was one of only a few, Looks like there are PLENTY more people and ISSUES comming out of the cracks....
