Why should I vote the DA?

I think you missed the gist of my post. Somebody that believes in press freedom such as the DA purports to do, should never delete a critisism, wherever or wheneve even if it was stupid.

If you write on my FB wall that I molest my daughter, d'you think I wouldn't delete it? There's a lot of crazy people making unsubstantiated claims. You probably just come of as another nutter, that's why they deleted the comments.

If you, however, do have proof of corruption, then use the right channels to expose it (i.e. not some random comment on FB. Or are you just trying to be sensational?)

The OP has already mentioned proofs of provision. Give credit where credit is due.

One swallow does not make a summer. I'd argue that that delivery is in spite of the ANC's overall policies and competence, not because of it

Dude, I'm not trying to be mean, but you don't sound very much like you have developed a very critical mindset and a thought process that is able to look at various theoretical scenarios and decide on the best course of action. Maybe that is the ANC's education system's fault. But part of me wants to think this is exactly what the ANC has been aiming for with their terrible education system? A bunch of voters who can't think for themselves?

Because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean they don't have a critical mindset. They just see things from a different perspective and arrive at a different conclusion.

Part of the problem with South African politics is that either side has zero or very little idea of the other sides perspective or life experiences. This is why they cannot fathom why so many vote for the ANC. This is changing, albeit extremely slowing. In part due to most DA supporters deciding the best strategy in winning more voters away from the ANC is to insult them.

Correct. ANC is given far too much credit. Imagine how much more could have been achieved without the wasted money and inefficiency we have seen.

There are lots of villages that are experiencing the same thing. I tell you in the next 20 years or so, some of the villages will not be recognizable because of the developments that are going on..

I worked on many RDP projects in the past which have changed lives of thousands of people to the credit of the ANC government. At the time, there was positive momentum from the ruling party, a concentrated effort/focus to impress people.

However, during the last decade, I believe they have become arrogant, greedy and lost focus. This does not come as a surprise because if you give leaders too much power, too much praise, it could be poisonous.

You should vote DA because they have the biggest voice to keep the ANC accountable to the public and run the country within acceptable/reasonable ethical standards. DA are not an opposition party, they actually have experience in governance.

The last political party I supported was the PAC in late 80’s. Despite all the good they did in my community and positive influence in my education, I still voted ANC in 1994. It is not about loyalty. It is about making sure democracy works.

May I ask why?

Not referring to you specifically, but I still get the feeling that many just want to see their vote go to the winning party.

Do they really deserve credit for basically just doing their job. So, they've done their job in some cases that doesn't negate the many cases where they've failed to do their job, not to mention all the corruption the ANC is involved in.
The ANC hasn't benevolently gifted water and electricity and and opportunity on the previously disadvantaged they've just done their job in some cases and to be honest the opportunities are a result of equality under the law which is not the ANC alones doing.

Why vote for the DA? Because they are better at service delivery and deal ruthlessly with corruption in their ranks. They are simply better at governance than the ANC.

At the time I believed the PAC had a chance of winning the 1994 elections because they were the only major political party I grew up with. However, I had seen how too much power poisoned the mind of my leaders in Ciskei to become arrogant dictators. As a result I voted for ANC in 1994 to make sure if PAC wins, they will have an opposition.

Interestingly there were a lot of black people in my ward who voted NP in 1994 because they believed the Ciskei government would find out if they voted ANC. The Ciskei government was against ANC/PAC and wanted to keep apartheid.

Here goes. I did not make any unsubstansiated claims, it was a question of what the DA was doing about published claims of corruption in the press. One of these was the sale of land in the centre of Hermanus for a pittance and the other the award of a tender in Cape Town to a company with ties to the DA. So instead of giving an answer they just deleted it. No sweat of my back because the DA do believe that they are a nannyt that thinks for everybody in their approach to the people of South Africa. And how do the two gentleman even know that it was unsubstantiated? and as far as I know it was on a Facebook post attacking the ANC for corruption.

The public protector investigated that tender and found no serious wrongdoing, just a procedural error. And that's ONE case. How many corrupt tenders has the ANC government dished out in the last week?!

And for how long can they ride that credit wave? I get the impression because they did some good in the past, now for the next 100 years that is credit is good. They can't be blamed for the crap/corruption/wastefull spending etc bec then you are racist/anti SA etc. Now they can rule the country /steal from the people because they did good previously ?

So it's like a father feeding his kid, but then beats him into submission every day.. but just because he feeds him, we can overlook the beatings.

I already mentioned that but I suspect people believe the PP is lying or in cahoots with the DA.

Again, can't win. The lemmings will keep following the leader and take our country over the edge of the cliff in the process.

Makes me sad.

No not black people, certain cultures. Some white people included too. Generally the ANC attracts people like that.
But you said:
"Furthermore, if the DA has a majority black vote then that same culture that produced Malema and Zuma will come through in the DA leadership. In fact the DA Leadership will be majority black."

You equated black with that culture as though it is automatic. You made it about race, you generalised. That isn't cool.

There are plenty of ethical competent black folks out there and there is no reason why they cannot lead the DA into the future and maintain the intolerance of corruption and intolerance of ineptitude that has characterised the DA in recent years.

I absolutely said that. You get white and black cultures that have very corrupt elements, there are just more blacks in SA, so the corrupt ways comes through more strongly.

Stop trying to put words in my month please.

That doesn't make an awful lot of sense. Why would corruption come through more strongly simply because there are more black South Africans?

Stop trying to put words in my month please.
I'm not putting words in your mouth. You very clearly made it about race, you used the terms "culture" and "black" interchangeably.

Let me just say DA makes more sense now that when ANC is not developing limpopo they are busy looting funds for limpopo. By the way, bhave you imagined where limpopo would be, if ANC had maintained the vision that they started with. But they have a new vision now like the rest of africa. Loot SA till dry, all in the name of democracy and of course the fact that they "they fought and died for this country."

So for me any party that didn't fight this country is good. Any party that is opposition is good.

Maybe they read Noseweek too?

And how do I know it's unsubstantiated? From your post - try reading your own words.
