Hey guys,
has anybody bought the Virgin data card?

The reason i asked is because i reckon its pointless.

My mate stopped by today with his new Virgin data card.
I really feel sorry for him because as much as he knows about CCTV,
he has absolutely no clue on matters broadband.
He then brags to me about this card like a mother with a newborn.
I bring to his attention that my lovers samsung e250 is a PHONE WITH THAT ANCIENT TECHNOLOGY BUILT IN, and about the recent months abysmal Virgin transfer rates and his face spasmed.

He had no idea that his EDGE card he bought for R1599 was far slower then my humble nokia 6630(available for R650 second hand) with 3g on Vodacom.Or Virgin roaming Vodacom in 3g.

Here is my gripe:Since Virgins gprs and "edge"
services are so bad why not include 3g and HSDPA technology with the hardware?
I mean, the guy could have bought MTN or VODACOMS offering for a similar price.
Where is the value for money ratio?
And Virgin promise (upcoming) 3g its own beleagured manuscript so including it should be standard.
CELL-C THIS INCLUDES YOU MR NOT SO SMART DATA!

I dont know if their new modems are any better but i really believe that
the technologically illiterate are getting a raw deal here...

What do you reckon?

I'd never buy one, but maybe they do it because it then makes their offering more attractive. If they sold HSDPA modems how long would it take their subscribers to move to Voda/MTN?

If they made the thing cheaper they may get a few customers. The whole Virgin/Cellc setup is just badly thought through.

I will be getting the E270 (HSUPA) one of these days.:D

Hows this for magic:That data card of his packed up just now.
Stone cold dead!
Where is the justice?
Perhaps its a good thing as i just took him online to vodacom, and he will
be getting a decent card.
I really pity the mortals who bought one of these stinkers.

Tell him to take it back to Virgin and get a refund, if they won't refund him, lodge a complaint on hellopeter.
