Why the huge price difference in data between Afrihost and Vox?

Anyone know the reasoning behind the huge price gap between Afrihost and Vox capped data? It's almost double the price per GB. I thought Vox had their own network so would be able to do a lot better than this?

Afrihost I can get 600GB for R699. 300GB package + Afrihost Plus. This comes with Simfy and the other free bonuses.
Vox I can only get 300GB for R689.

@Voxy Care to share the reasoning?

This is like asking why some airlines costs more than others... It comes down to things like economies of scale, network quality, support quality and other factors.
 
I get there can be differences in terms of performance and support, but double the price? I currently have the 300GB from Vox, but for double the data at the same price, I may switch to Afrihost I and try it out.

VOX's data rolls over for one. Afrihost's data magically disappears at the end of the month.
 
Looks like Vox has a 5 x monthly allocation. Afrihost has a 1 x month rollover.

Not anymore! There is a one month roll-over on our Capped DSL accounts now. :)
 
When Afrihosts network was being upgraded last year (I think) I downgraded my account to a 150GB and took out the Vox 150GB special for R160 so I could switch between them when either is not performing best.
I still have the 2 accounts and they run equally well, can't fault either of them so you're definitely not paying more for a better service in my opinion.
 
Thanks, will be giving Afrihost a try as soon as I've depleted my Vox data.
 
R599 for 300GB, R99 for Afrihost+. With AF+ this becomes 600GB of capped DSL data and 500MB of Mobile data.
 
So to make matters even worse, looks like my Vox account that is "unshaped" is actually hard limited to 40MB, ie: max VSDL speeds.

Phoned Vox Support, most technicians have no clue what's going on in terms of Fibre. Hoping someone calls me back today else I'll definitely be moving to Afrihost.

I believe that most DSL accounts are rate-limited to 40Mbps, simply because you can't reach speeds higher than 40Mbps on DSL at the moment in South Africa.

We've had to set that limit considerably higher on our side because we've got quite a few Clients using our Capped accounts on Fibre. :)

Maybe next time you post stats, you should hide your Public IP :). I just helped a client move from datapro aka VOX to Afrihost, got their domain up and running, DSL and new email accounts fully functional with in a day, and on top of that it was so much cheaper.
 
It's not a static IP so I'm not phased, come at my Mikrotik bro :D Looks like I'm headed to Afrihost come month end.
