Why the new DStv Explora has a smaller hard drive

New one uses H.265 vs the old ones H.264 (I assume). When downloading content, the H.265 files seem about half the size of H.264 content. So you will still be using the same %...

That is only when downloading, the content you record will not be x265, if they start broadcasting with HEVC the smaller drive won't matter and the quality will be better, 1080P for basically half the bandwidth requirements of the current 720P stream.

The number of hours recording in the new one is less than the old one according to the specs

I have pvr decoder with 2tb harddrive which contains programs I do not wish to loose. I now purchased explora 3 with 1 tb hard drive. Can I straight swop hard drives and so retain my programs and gain the extra space?
