Why use Striata Readers?

I really question the sanity of these banks who force their customers to use this questionable Striata Reader application. When installed has been the cause of many OS issues. Nothing wrong with password protected pdf format.

yeah, and thanks to Nedbank for encrypting every single one of our business petro card and credit card statements with a different random password so that it takes me a full day just to sit and print the company credit card statements.
 
To be honest, a password protected PDF file is the most unsecure method of distributing such document. PDF passwords cannot be hacked, but they can be removed in total and give you access to the document. In fact, not only are there many free software programs, but there are probably around 100,000 PDF Password Removal websites that allows you to upload a document and download it without a password.

The problem is when the Striata Reader installation has a problem with OS etc. the Banks and Striata are prominent by their absence in assistance. So why install rubbish in the first instance.

My favourite is the practise by one of them to now send you the Striata version and then a regular PDF for "mobile" use...all in the same email.

Just send the bloody PDF as is.

I'll be honest, I've installed & use Striate Reader on numerous PC's without issue. From Windows XP,7,10, 32 bit & 64 bit. What issue's are you having?
 
Why do the documents have to be encrypted? Its not like they were very secure when they were sent via post back in the day.

I've only had issues with these things. Problem being, once you install it; it is impossible to remove so you can do a clean install.

Really is just infuriating.

This is a good sign of cr#p software and the banks love this stuff. I fail to comprehend why they still punt the rubbish.

Call me old fashioned, but I still have some statements coming in though the post... and yes, it is quite unsafe.
Should go and get it changed to emailed statements, but I'm lazy...
 
Called Standard Bank Internet Bank Support and to my surprise the consultant did not know what this Striata Reader does or how it functions, stating it creates PDF. Did not understand it decrypts an .emc file to pdf, being a different to pdf password protected file.

The PDF is only a summary of your account status, it's not a full statement. The striata version is the full statement
 
Anyone know of a way to figure out / get hold of your old card number?

I collected all these encrypted statements, but now that I need to go back, I have no idea what the card number from 15 months ago was. The branch can't help me.

So the only way I can think of is to get 1 page from 15 months back at R55/page.

I tried to brute force the Striata reader but have to restart the process and send keys, so it's going to take about 10hours per million combinations... could take like 10 million hours and I'm not THAT stubborn.

Never had an issue as well. Simple and clean. Much more frustrated with the new way some banks send you electronic statements.

Huh? Go to control panel find the section dealing with uninstall of sw and select. Easy.

look the number up on the record you have of all the cards you ever had ... Don't have such a record? well enough said.
