Why won't Mandela Speak Out?

I think we can all agree what a great man Nelson Mandela is, I have heard 2 first hand recollections of people who have met him, as well as all the stories we have heard.

But lately I must say I'm disappointed with Mandela, as the ANC use his name along with their lies and etc. and he stays quite. Surely he does not support what the ANC has become? How they act?

Maybe he's happy with the way things are and the way the ANC is "ruling" ?

It's virtually impossible to secure an interview with him, those in charge make sure he is kept away & quite.

Has anyone seen Mr Mandela since his last hospital visit?

O/t:

In 30minutes - on 10 May - Mandela became SA's first black president 17 years ago.

He recently said something like, "best of luck to New Zealand". Then his minder corrected him by telling him to say 'SA'.

Perfectly understandable at his age, he is no longer actively involved.

(No jokes on the ANC's NZ support history pls)

It's amusing the fight that's broken out between bleeding heart generally white liberals and the ANC over Mandela. Each claiming him as one of their own.

Of course the facts actually are clear. IIRC it was sox who hit the nail on the head. The man is ANC all the way.

He stuck with thugs and tyrants like 'brother leader' Gaddafi and Castro and you actually believe he'd now abandon the ANC. The same people who'd been his comrades for decades.

mandela's record as president was no better than Mbeki and Zuma. All those corrupts comrades like Manto and co were in the top echelons of the ANC and in his cabinet when he was president. They're the same people now as they were back then and he never had a problem.

It's time to let the mythical media created illusion go and accept the cold hard facts......

Maybe he stuck with them because while the so-called superpowers refused to intervene or impose sanctions, those people helped the ANC when the ANC needed help.

and Zuma spent a decade on Robin island with him. Now suddenly he's going to abandon him when he couldn't turn his back on a far more brutal backward thug like Gaddafi.

Give me a break

I'm not surprised that he hasn't said anything, most folks who have had contact with old people know exactly what I mean.

There comes a time when all you want to do is protect them from the world. They may still be coherent ( if your lucky ) and they recognize who you or people are, but certainly complex mental acuity is affected. I would not be surprised that he has already suffered sever mental degradation and has either not been informed or able to keep up with the political shena****ns of his own party.

Thats my opinion too, but I'd like to add that he is surrounded by vultures trying to profiteer off his name. Not just the ANC, but also people with personal agenda and get rich quick schemes (the Nelson Mandela Foundation).

Okay fair enough, he is very old, I just thought a man of his caliber would not be able to stop himself speaking out about such things you know?

If South Africa is so reliant on one man, then the country is truly in terrible shape and is heading for failed state status.

Truth is there are no true "leaders" in the ANC.

Who will be our next president?

I personally thing Madiba probably wants to pass away as soon as possible to leave this disease called the ANC to their own demise (spelling) I think he is very very embarrased and if he was younger he would also look at escaping to Auz (tounge in cheek)

"True" leaders are a rare occurrence in any country. I'm afraid South Africa has had it's quota for a few generations. Countries succeed not because of an individual but because of it's population's attitude to their compatriots and other things such as work ethic. The occasional good leader just provides a momentary boost.

I don't see anything positive in the attitude of South Africans, generally speaking. It seems the country is dominated by negativity and distrust. I am sure there are exceptions. I hope there are enough.

oh come on he is old now how much do you possibly think this man can do. he can barely hold his head up. give the man the respect he is due. look at other old people of that age. the man has done his duty to this country let me live his twilight years in peace now. he couldn't even walk the last time he was taken to hospital now you want him to speak. he probably can't even string two words together never mind a sentence.

Mandela has profitted from being gracious in victory towards the white man.

Secretly he felt like all other black people do. He just couldn't say it.

Now he revels in all these assaults on the white man.

I have that same suspicion.

Lets not forget the role that the media and indeed the NP have played in making this ordinary man an demigod...
