Why you should stop using AVG!

Tried AVG once found the whole ting rather clunky and the final straw was when it quarantined its own .exe thus totally death-locking everything.
I honestly couldn't believe such a thing was possible but I swear thats what happened.

i have seen a few ppl mention Nod32...

...now i know its not free, so what is the cost involved

At the moment we are finding Kaspersky to be the least problematic of all the solutions we've wasted money on.

Last year, the Norton's AV I deployed left much egg on my face.

Kaspersky is the best you can get, if I find it necessary to purchase an AV suite I'd pick theirs.

I had been wondering why my bandwidth for the previous month had been so high - I'd just installed AVG 8.0 on the one windows computer at home.

grrrrrrrrrr

I have used previous versions of AVG, but somehow I never came away impressed. It always seemed sluggish, and many things slipped through it's scanner. Despite that, I told people at my work to use it, as it was still better than Norton. I haven't used version 8 yet and don't really intend to.

I later heard about Avast, and after using it at home, I'm sold. It's not system resource heavy, update files are small, and it has a great detection rate. I'm now telling everybody to use it instead. It's free like AVG, but unlike AVG, doesn't have adverts all over the show telling you to buy it. You barely even know it's a free version.

AVG is in danger of possibly becoming another Norton, and that's a sad thing.

Don't use IE in the first place, hence AVG's link scanner does not work in Opera :)

buuut will give this ClamAV a try look realy IMBA! :D

I just tried Avast as well. Gave me three false positives in one day and Blocked my Grabit downloads. I uninstalled it 24 hours later. Using BitDefender 10 Free now.

hehe....I'm using Firefox 3 & the linkscanner in AVG is on 'idle' mode now....

Poor IE7....AVG is forcing people to Firefox 3. :)
