Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System

An alternative to the
I am happy for your sake that your experience was better than mine. The Xiaomi units are OK if you are happy with consumer-grade units.

I have thrown my two Xiaomi AX3000s and two Ubiquiti APs out in favour of 4x Ruijie Reyee RG-RAP1260, and I could not be happier. The Reyee units are on another level, even better than Ubiquiti.

The AX3000s and UAP-AC-LRs will be passed on to family members who are less demanding than I.
Nice, the Reyee products are great.

I am using a RG-RAP2260G and RG-RAP2266 to cover my whole house. Very happy. They can mesh, but I have 1 as a wired router and the other as a wired AP.

So between these 2 which one would be the best option just for normal home use. The Parental controls got me thinking to rather go for a device with that option so we can limit the kid easily and his friends almost everyone of them wants wifi :X3:

These Baobab folks are stingy with the warranty. Is WiFi 6 non-negotiable? I'm a warranty snob, with your budget, you could get a whole lot more protection for your money elsewhere.

How much of an improvement is WiFi 6 vs WiFi 5?

I got more. You seem receptive to the idea of lowering the WiFi 6 specification? Unless you need this specific feature of WiFi 6? I feel you seriously need to think about lowering it considering your budget. There's value to be found warranty/price wise elsewhere.

I have those. I actually only use two of them as the third became redundant. You can use the extra cash to buy some surge protection.

The metal housing of the Xiaomi is also just a much higher quality feeling than the clearly plastic looking Mercusys, even if you preference is white.

So I got the Xiaomis. They're definitely plastic and not metal. It was a tedious process to update the firmware on each and get them set up. Signal is much improved with good speeds throughout the house now though.

Sorry I should have said “metal look”.

The firmware is an annoyance but a once off at least.

Glad you are styling.

A bit late now but how would the Cudy AX1800 mesh routers have faired? Are they comparable to Deco X20's or similar Wi-Fi 6 mesh routers?

I would think if you can get AX3000 options at the same price, to rather do that instead.

I bought the Xiaomi today. R1899 at takealot. Makro also have them for R1899..

What's your budget? Are you fixed on the two you listed? I have the Deco x60 and its fantastic.

So i finally decided to go with the Xiaomi AX3000.

Setup was real easy after that i used the Upgrade Assistant and that took about 5mins to update them both. WiFi is way better even the range of just the 2 units so far it looks like i do not need a 3rd unit.

FIY anyone wants to use them on those DC ups's you will need a adapter OD 4.0mm ID 1.7mm luckily i had some left :)

Anyone who has the ax3000 xioimi units ..what's the distance between both routers

When connecting via mesh system they join and both lights stay white

Once I move it to another room atleast 2 rooms away the light goes to orange

My second unit is 15-16m away from the main unit.

EDIT: I did not even put them close to each other before the setup just swapped my Cudy mesh units for the Xiaomi and then did the setup.

Once I put it in another room it does not pick up

When I went into the kitchen which is also about 2 rooms from the 2nd router the WiFi signal drops

I had them both next to each other and checked on the app and they say connected via WiFi but signal was medium

Just logged it as a return now on takealot
