Wifi Calling - Vodacom

Jannie, my Lenovo Zuk Z2 supports Volte, but it does not want to work. I have checked, my line is properly provisioned for Volte. Is it because my phone was not supplied by Vodacom and does not have Vodacom specific carrier settings? Is there a way to fix it?

Needs to be enabled by the vendor on the local network.

Have you used this firmware? I tried it before, but it's actually German Vodafone. VoLTE did not work for me.

I haven't tried it no.

You can even do a older firmware version and from there just do the OTA updates to get you to the Wi-Fi calling one.

Tried 10 different firmwares yesterday. None worked on my Telkom phone (Original firmware being XFA). Seems this will only work on orginal Vodacom supplied phones?

You have to full wipe and flash the CSC, radio and everything to make it Vodacom.

Google how to change firmware region.

So the VoWiFi carrier name stopped showing when connected to WiFi for some reason, it was working fine 2 days ago.

I'm on a Smart plan with an iPhone 6S Plus.

Same issue. iPhone 6s on Smart S, no more VoWifi showing up.

I'm running monthly, a 10 gig through Capitec @ R599 pm.
Add to that a $19 Skype account (R200) per month for unlimited calls to South African cells and landlines, as well as 60 minutes to most numbers in the world.
I average 800 mins per month phoning locally.
I also get a bundled Office 365 subscription with 1Tb storage.

This for R800 per month...

Vodacom et al, is julle blerrie mal?
Telkom freeme 20gig . 20gigs and 1500 minutes . R599 bro

Hi Guys,

any idea when the VoLTE will start working again on the iPhones on Vodacom?

Necro :)

Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) can potentially save battery power compared to traditional cellular calls in certain situations. When you use VoWiFi, your phone utilizes your Wi-Fi connection to make voice calls instead of relying solely on the cellular network. This can be beneficial for battery life because Wi-Fi connections typically consume less power than cellular connections, especially when the cellular signal is weak or fluctuating.

However, it's important to note that the actual impact on battery life can vary based on several factors, including the quality of your Wi-Fi connection, the strength of your cellular signal, and how your device manages power. In some cases, if your Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable, using VoWiFi might lead to better battery efficiency during voice calls.

It's a good idea to monitor your device's battery usage and observe how it performs when making calls over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks to determine the actual impact on battery life in your specific usage scenario.

Wifi calling was working on my phone (with a MTN sim) when I used my home WiFi, but about two weeks ago it stopped working. I normally use a Vodacom LTE SIM in my WiFi router, but today I used an MTN SIM and now WiFi calling is working on my phone. I assume the problem is on Vodacom's side, and if so, how do I get Vodacom to fix it?

What are you using now for your home WiFi ?
Vodacom or some other ISP ?

Usually Vodacom but today MTN with Afrihost APN.

MTN seems to be selectively blocking specific ISP's
Based on personal experience , MTN is blocking WiFi on MWeb
