Wifi Disconnecting

1,6 and 12

Download the Wifi analyser (actual name) app then you can check if they overlap.

great app to check others and their strength - I would then set router to a fixed channel with enough spacing

I see they have it for Windows and Android and the one for Apple seems to be called Network Analyzer

Na that one is rubbish, get hold of a Android phone just to see.

There's a million and one different apps called Wifi Analyzer am I correct in assuming it's the one that how the wifi symbol with a needle on it basically representing a speedometer?

Ok so downloaded that one and it says I'm currently on channel 2 which is hanging around the same rating as Channel 1, sometimes actually better, in terms of signal strength that's fine it's in the 20s and everything else seems to be fine. But how do I check the overlap?

Cool so like I said only picking up 3-4 different wi-if signals, one of which is a 3G modem inside my house, there is a d-link that's popping up every now and then with a weak signal strength which is also on the same wi-if channel that I'm on. Might try throwing mine onto channel 1 permanently and seeing how things go

Also any ideas for the whole 2.4Ghz vs 5Ghz? Heard a lot of other devices are 2.4 and can cause interference but not sure if changing to 5 is worth the shot

Look for this page and tell us what you see, IE SSID and channel number.

Ideally you must only have your wifi set to 1, 3 or 12

Setting it to 2 is very strange.

Yeah I checked that and it was set to 2 for whatever reason. I changed it to 1 and that saved but literally 2 minutes after it working the connection dropped again. Starting to think its just not meant to work today and tomorrow it will be fine

Cool so it has the SSID, Channel 1 and that bar for strength is hovering around 55-65dBm

look at the graph as below - my router and extenders are on ch 11 (which I fixed it to) and the neighbour is on ch 1, so I have no interference

you won't have the 5GHz option on that ancient router

Yeah just noticed that. Yeah on that screen only 1 other network shows up which is named d-link but it's strength is pathetic. I'm thinking of maybe trying to move to channel 12 as there's nothing on that besides the Vodafone 3G Modem at home, channel 13, which shouldn't effect anything

Completely wrong, you arnt meant to stack channels, move 2 SSID's to ch12 and one to ch 6

those are range extenders - they set themselves to the same ch as the main router

That makes no sense at all.

that's just how it works - my router is a Huawei B593, which has 4 SSIDs, all on the main channel and then I have two TP-LINK TL-WA850RE wireless extenders and they set themselves to my routers channel, so if I change my router from say 11 to 6, the extenders and my WiFi cameras all follow the main router - works well

So moved to channel 12. Lasted for 5 minutes dropped connection. Moved to 11 now going to see how that goes not having any expectations currently. Seems like it doesn't matter... And as I was typing this out the connection dropped again. Yeah may just be best to try a new modem wish I had a spare one laying around
