ok so i have 2 routers a wired and a wifi. i want to leave the wired in (long story), and connect the wifi one as a switch so i have my pc connect to the wifi router through the ethernet but i cant connect to the internet via wifi, it links up fine but does not work.

Set your WiFi AP's IP address to automatic, disable its DHCP server and set it to bridge mode.

That way, your other router will hand out IP addresses to the WiFi clients in the same range as the wired clients.

If your WiFi AP does not support bridge mode, then you'll have to pick a different IP range for your WiFi AP's clients, and make sure that you set your WiFi AP's default gateway (and primary DNS) to your wired router's LAN IP address. If your WiFi AP can get an IP address automatically, then everything should just work out of the box.

Hi,
You probably need to switch DHCP off on the second router to ensure that it doesn't assign IP Addresses that conflict with first router. Also make sure that they are on the same range (i.e. router 1 IP should be 192.168.2.1 and the router 2 IP should be 192.168.2.2).

i can only connect on the ethernet port but if i try to use the wifi it connects to the modem but it can not ping on the wifi.
so yes i can ping or the ethernet
so no i can not ping on the wifi

You probably will have to setup the gateway/dns in the IP address settings to the router you want the internet from for it to work and/or manually put the other settings in also.

ignore the other suggestions since my setup works with DHCP and different IP address ranges on the routers

I presume the internet light is green on the second router or it won't work
