Hi guys

I've currently got the following setup:

I live in a apartment block , our internet is supplied through Smart Village, I have a ethernet connection in the wall and they supply me with a username and password, die IP is obtained automatically, currently my PC is connected directly to the connection in the wall through a ethernet cable.

I want to share this internet connection through Wifi... I have a Mega WR100 Telkom ADSL modem which has Wifi capabilities, this was used YEARS ago when I had a DSL line with Telkom.

First question is this modem sufficient or does the modem only work with a actual telephone line.

Secondly if it's possible to use this modem could someone help me with the setup?

Thanks

I'm uncertain if they have concurrent session limits, but your easiest bet is getting a WAN router like this to handle the connection for you. The telkom device is a router for DSL only, but you could use it as a Wireless bridge, but that wouldnt sort out the connection sharing as not all devices support point to point connection protocols

Bravestar Go with a WAN router. They are not all that expensive. The Telkom supplied router would likely be set to act as DHCP and that may mess with your IP addressing.
I would also check with smart village to see if there are any restrictions on the number of devices that connect to the internet.

Warmest regards

Tim
