I recently bought a Samsung i780 mobile phone (running on Windows mobile). It has the ability to connect to wifi. I buy my bandwidth through Web Africa and use a Telkom line. So I do not have the conventional ISP. When I want to go onto the internet, I have to sign in with a username and password (like with Dial-up).

The phone picks up and connects to the wifi easily. But I cannot find anywhere in the settings that I can do the username and password authentication, like I do with my computer (in oder to go onto the internet) Does anyone have a solution?

My wife has a Sony Ericson P1i (running on Symbian) and it has the same problem - nowhere to authenticate!

Please help!!

I doubt that either of your Phones have a PPPoE client built into them.
What you need, is a Router which will dial your internet connection for you.

So what type of Router will be able to do this for me?

I also have the option to go with a new company called openweb.co.za. They work with VPN. Will I have the same problems with this setup - if I use the same router?

Any Broadband Router will be able to do the job.
If you're using ADSL, then look for a Wireless ADSL Router. There are many manufacturers. Linksys, Netgear, Billion... the list goes on.
