Wii Game Reviews

What's your guys high score in the table tennis. I've gotten platinum and passed it. I enjoy the speed.

At first it was also too sensitive for me as well. After you get past 90 or 150 hits you might be saying that the controls are too slow.

Wii sport is crazy ****, I fell on my glass coffee table whilst playing Tennis....then the table fell on me....^^" yes, I am a clumsy creature!
I got Twilight Princess as my 2nd game - I like it. Link comes off as quite a cute charecter *coughcoughI'mnotinlovewithacharecterfromagamethxvermuch* and it's quite playable.
I just feel like an idiot whenever I swing the remote around -_-" sigh.

Super smash is AWESOME!!!!! My copy arrived. A review better than this will not be possibel without a lot more play, BUT, when this game eventually comes out in PAL... you're gonna wanna get it. Will be spending plenty time with my Wiii this weekend...

Guitar Hero III (also available on xbox etc.)

Just a quick review here. I bought Guitar Hero III (costs around the R700 mark) and it comes with a plastic guitar that you use to play the game (your wii remote connects to it and slots inside).

(If you have seen the Southpark episode Guitar Queer-O it's that game)

Basically you get easy medium difficult and expert mode which all relates to how many fingers you use and how you use them.

When playing, a song is played to you (mostly old rock - some good songs) and there are different coloured markings on the guitar fret that are associated to the different colour buttons on your little plastic guitar. The fret moves past you as if you are driving down a road and as the colour circles appear on the fret you press the colour button on the neck of the guitar and then strum using the strum button, there is also a "whammy" button that warps the notes if you get a long note. Oh and if you dont make mistakes it increases your star power, to use your star power you tilt the guitar upwards and that makes the fret go blue and your points are increased while this is going.

If you have no idea what im talking about go check this video on youtube

Overall I like the game, it gets a bit frustrating if you're not a pro but it's got a lot of game play in it.

Some kid made the guiness world record for best guitar hero player

Only got the wii for a few months now and its pretty awesome
I have the wii sports, super mario galaxy, pro evolution soccer 2008, mario and sonic at the olympics, top spin 3, WiiFit (doesnt really count as a game tho)
And still the most played game is wii sports :/

Pes wasn't what i expected, it makes use of the motion senser and pointer quite nicely, but the gameplay and graphics arent up to scratch, also they only have the license for newcastle and spurs in the premier league, the rest of the teams have funny names and logos. All the correct players are there tho

The olympics only kept me going for a week or so, gets boring very very quickly
and the same for super mario galaxy, too repetitive

However top spin 3 is awesome, so much better then wii sports tennis, and from all the games its by far the best buy yet, its not as involved as the other console versions but it makes up for it by having excellent gameplay.
There are some down sides tho, the "road to glory" mode seems rather short
And you cant build your own character or track your progress or skill levels like wii sports tennis

Did you try Mortal Kombat Armageddon - Looks like a bit too much of arm waving for me and I'm fast getting gatvol of doing that.

I found PES 2008 to be brilliant (bar the graphics). Gameplay better than Fifa 08 on the PS3 Imho.

Fancy a PES online match? Just got the game last week and even got the missus hooked.

Can we even play online? I tried the wiiconnect24 thing but apparently its not working for SA yet. I had to change my country to UK to get it working.

I havent played fifa on the wii but i was expecting more from the gameplay on pes2008.
Like actually controlling where you shoot, it depends too much on the character skill instead of the human players skill. All you do is flick the nunchuk, no direction, no power, nothing.

The crowd is better on pes tho, lol. The crowds in fifa (PC and ps2) look like cardboard cutouts.

Super Smash Bros Brawl

10 out of 10

Excellent Game. Only started playing last night. If you have a Wii then you have to get this game.

I bought this from Look and Listen, but have changed it 3 times now. Still get a disk read error. Problem must be with my Wii. But it plays everything else perfectly. Have seen a lot of reports online about this problem - as Brawl is the first Wii game to use dual layer disks - and many wii drives are having trouble reading the disks.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Overseas Nintendo offers to "repair" your Wii by cleaning the lens. Will we get a similar offer in SA?

cool. any more details? wats it about?

its a fighting game thats a combination of 2d and 3d gfx, it's quite cool you can even play as zelda, sonic and solid snake but it's not groundbreaking in my opinion (maybe cause i like super smash bros melee of the gamecube more :D ) another Killer instinct game would be kewl though

Mario Kart Wii

Ok, Mario Kart Wii, here we go...

Graphics: Typical Wii. Fun, Mario-type stuff. Not bad for the Wii.
Playability: 10/10 here. This game was meant to be played. And played.

We got the game on the Saturday, and by the next day everyone was playing. We only have two remotes (Damn, those things are expensive!!), but the racing hasn't stopped since then. 2 weeks later, and the disc hasn't seen the light of day.

As you progress (single-player) through the tournaments, earning bronze or better trophies, more characters, vehicles and tournaments open up for you. They get harder and more technical, keeping the challenge alive.

It's addictive - even more so than Wii Sports was for me (I love tennis) - and I even came home from work one afternoon to find the wife playing with the kids!

The steering wheel that comes with the game makes quite a difference to those that are not used to the Wiimote. That said, the game itself has awesome tactics - the further behind you are, the better the items you pick up, and the faster you go. It's the ultimate leveller. Add to that the addition of the motorbike with its unique benefits, and you've got yourself one heck of a game. Well worth every cent I paid.

Just a shame the extra steering wheel is R349 at Makro.

EDIT: We've been playing this game a little deeper, and opening locked items, etc. Very cool. I've also moved from the steering wheel to the nunchuck combo - and now I'm flying. Just goes to show - different controls make a big difference, sepecially when using manual drift...
