A split seems to be brewing between the ANC's top echelons. On the one side are the members that want service delivery for the people and on the other are the inner circle of Zuma and his cronies set up by the Gupta's that only want self enrichment.

There are court cases brewing between the 2 factions and this may lead to a split and the eventual demise of the ANC.
Looking at other African countries political history, the main parties control the metros and dissolve to the rural areas then disappear. Zimbabwe is on the brink of this as is SA.

There is already a split, people are aware of the cowardly and greedy leaders protecting each other, their actions are plain to see.
Isnt it sad to see how in Zumas regime has wilfully crushed and smeared the hard work done by the suffering of millions of people to get freedom and a better life.

It's sad indeed but what's more tragic is that influential people watched and did very little while Zuma was busy destroying the ANC...

No the ANC won't split they will just soldier on under the false pretense of unity and hope that that they scrape a win in the 2019 election and they will really hope that Zuma does not seek a third term as president of the ANC.

They have let things go too far to do anything drastic at this point.

I believe this is the case. The next few weeks will be interesting. I wonder how the ANC are going to respond to the loss of power...

Seeing as we are in a thread with nothing but rumors, how about the one where Parks Tau and Thoko Didiza are vying for the position of Ekurhuleni mayor, now that they have lost their own seats?

When the anc wakes up in a week or so and realizes that their gravy train has lost some coaches and the passengers inside those lost coached are still looking for gravy I think there is going to be great unhappiness.
The anc's size and support base us numbered and I think there is going to be a divide in the lower ranks.

I think you give them far too much credit for being too organised.
It seems to me like it is just one massive chaos party.
I don't think they can get their crap together to even split in an organised manner.

They have already split 3 times, UDM, COPE and EFF.

Yup, if the unhappy ones "split" the anc they will just form a new party and fail.

@BBSA not so sure about the EFF, they are not exactly a split, more like an upstart. Will be interesting to see what chaos they cause next.

I'd much rather have Parks Tau than Masina

Municipalities like Tshwane and CoJ have huge revenue so losing this means harder for funds to go missing and repay loyalty with council seats. lower end of the party is going to be up in arms so next years anc meeting will be interesting.

All the EFF leaders and most supporters are from the ANC. Most of them would still be in the ANC if it was not for Zuma.

The real problems will emerge when the ANC National Government finds it is impossible to get Provinces to implement policies that are not acceptable to the Provinces.

2019? What about a scenario that forces an early National Government election?

Good point, I was more thinking about how they formed, not where their current support comes from. In that sense they are opposite of what happened with Cope where the leaders were all anc and formed their own party and almost no anc support flowed over to them.

Not a snowball's chance in hell.

Sure, there may be people in the ANC who are unhappy with Zuma, but he has put all his cronies in the highest positions around him to protect him. So even if some of them are unhappy with them, they know they're out if he's out.

Exactly they won't split and look at all the political assassination and *death by car crash* cough Zuma's bodyguard and wife scandal.

Fear will keep it in tact.
