Considering the iPhone 5 is to be announced?
Or do Apple products not work like that?

I've 45 days to go ... And counting down to the time I can chuck my BB away!

Why don't you consider the price of the iPads? Dropped by 1K on release of new model.

I meant before the release ... purely because of the announcement - would the cell providers want to get rid of stock?
From what I hear, iPhone 5 is probably only going to be around 3-4 months after my upgrade anyhow ... but I'm hoping the news alone would mean I can get a free one on a cheap contract?

S3 is great - but apart from being slightly large, I have an iPad and I'd like everything to sync. If I could go back in time, I'd get both a Samsung tablet and S3

Core is pretty good about cutting down inventory before a new release. Sure, the iPad2 dropped by R1000 ... If you could find one. But would you want a 4s when all your buddies are carrying a 5?

... cause it's cheap ;)

I'm no longer about getting the best on the market, but rather a fair balance between cost/features. The 4S isn't a bad phone and if it's cheap - why not? I've seen Vodacom packages at R520.00 with free iPhone, 120 minutes and 500MB data, which seems ok

@ PP ... forgot to mention in the other thread, but congrats on the lack of smoking :P

Thanks. :) Hope you can get rid of that BB fast. Seen some good 4S pricing on the classifieds.

It might come down. With recent models they seem to have retained a low-end version of the previous model at a lower price. Were there any particularly good local deals on the 4 when the 4s was announced?

I actually sold a new sealed 4S on classads - contemplated keeping it, but figured the upgrade wasn't too far off anyhow

Sense. It makes none.

You have a list of Apple/iOS issues stretching into multiple pages, in size 4 Condensed Arial font. iPhones are expensive. Even if the 4S is reduced it would still be relatively expensive vs. SG2 and most likely even the SG3.

So you're picking the more expensive with the least features (at least according to multiple posts by yourself previously).

If I were you I'd pick up a SG2, probably at bargain basement price, sell the iPad (which has good 2nd hand value) and buy a Tab. I doubt you would we worse of monetary wise - and at last you get Android. :)

Ah undesign ... I tried keeping the limitations of devices out of this thread purposely as I didn't want it to degenerate :/ I've never said the Apple/iOS are bad - I think they're average. Is that a bad thing?

Difference between you and I is that I don't wet my pants when I see an iDevice. I dont feel Steve deserved god-like status and I don't believe that others are playing catch up. In my view, they've surpassed the Apple products technology wise.

Onto the post - I'd get 3,000ish for th iPad and need to put in 4,000 to get a Galaxy?
The iPhone is a touch over 500.00pm ... For the device, 100 SMSs, 120 anytime minutes and 500mb data. The SG aren't much below that - so hardly Bargain basement pricing?

the price wont drop, I personally think so.

One thing what I don't like about hardware in today's world is, all hardware are so similar, it doesn't really matter what hardware you have, android phone, iphone and all the rest.... they all do exactly the same, is it really so WOW if your phone loads an app 2 split seconds quicker?

they still do the same thing in the end.

It's not about iErections, it's about computing logically.

A mate of mine upgraded on Talk 240 this weekend, received a SG2 + Tab + 250Mb. That leaves you with the iPad to sell cash. You have consistently stated your opinion that iOS is limited and catching up with pretty much every other OS - and that "open" Android is where it's happening. Hardware has followed a similar trend.

Not to mention that you can upgrade in 45 days, and the iPhone 5 will probably only be here by year-end if not later.

So, it does not make sense for you to get an iPhone when you can Androidise without any substantial monetary loss. :)

That does sound like a deal .. That is only R430.00pm?
Surely there is a pay in?
Any more info?

If it only R430.oo, then I agree with you - that is the best choice

Which tab?

Att OP
iPhone rarely drop in price. Depends on the iPhone 5 though, but the iPhone 4 held its price coz iPhone 4S was very similar to the 4.
i also dont think the networks are allowed to sell the old iPhones, they tend to discontinued the old one for the new one.
