Will iPhone 4S drop in price?

I doubt the iPhone 4s will get a price drop. Most people are hopelessly uninformed about new releases and the iPhone 5 will only arrive in SA end of the year, which are sufficient reasons to retain the premium price of the most sought after phone in the country.
 
Sorry, seems to be the Tab 8.9. He's completely clueless technology-wise, better to find out the details from Vodacom directly...

Galaxy Tab, valued at R7000? Really? Remember an iPad 3 with 3G is less than that! I'd say it's about R5k max.

I'd rather get the iPad 3 with a Retina display and a way better GPU. Also the iPad range starts at R3999, whereas that's the starting price for a Galaxy Tab.
 
Perhaps now with the iPad 3 - but even that I'd need seriously think about.

But it's taken Apple some time to catch up to competition again. 12 months ago you'd be silly if you chose the iPad over the Galaxy (unless it was cheap, like my reason). The Galaxy was the superior tablet in every aspect IIRC

EDIT : I'm not starting a war - it is preference. I just feel the iPad 2 was horrible pre iOS 5

Didn't you buy an iPad about that time? You'd think with Apple single handedly responsible for carving out the tablet market they'd know what they're doing. The other makers have spent time trying not to make tablet that copy the iPad too much for fear of infringing on Apple's patent trolling.
 
Personally I way preferred even an iPad 1 to the Galaxy tab. The hardware and resale value is better on an iPad.

Like I said, it was cheap ...

It's an average device and does what I need. But 0.7MP camera, the buggy Newstand, lack of wifi hotspot, the difficulty of loading files onto it, the 'bad, average, good' wifi signal strength, fact it kicked to Wifi for certain functions (FaceTime, apps over 20MB etc), the ****ty way of emailing, the SMTP issue I always have when switching wifi/3G, the widget free UI and lack of any customising and numerous other issues didn't scream 'BEST TABLET EVER!' to me. I couldn't even use the tablet for 9 hrs as it needed a PC to start working ... and then I had issues with the iStore which has nothing (unless - of course , you hack or have someone work around)

Lucky since then, they'd lifted a few limitations and made things a little easier - and with iOS 6 other issues are going to be rectified. But back then technically other tablets were ahead.
 
Yeah, luckily my iPad 3 has wifi hotspot, and it's gonna get Siri, and a better camera. Many other issues can be resolved with a Jailbreak. It depends on your needs though - I am ok without a JB.

I found/find Honeycomb to be technically quite disappointing. The browser felt much worse, didn't render pages as accurately, or zoom as quickly. The Mail app was severely lacking, most apps are/were just blown up phone versions or have obnoxious ads, apps like Pages, Numbers, Garageband, Tweetbot, iBooks, Magazines and all the games aren't as cool on Android - again my opinion.

But sounds like Android might be better for you, but try for at least a Android 4.0 Tablet, the Galaxy Tab still has Honeycomb (!) The Galaxy Tab II has ICS but is identical to the Galaxy Tab, (which doesn't make much sense), but rather get that. Or an Asus Transformer Prime - you get a Retina class display, if it ever arrives.

Or just get the Galaxy S2 - aren't they dirt cheap atm? Get an Android tablet later when 1) there is an irresistible special or 2) you upgrade your ipad.

Besides, most decent apps are cross-platform, so that shouldn't pose any serious issues. I still can't fathom why you would hesitate for even a second to get an almighty, market-leading, full-featured, mobile trend-setting, open, customisable and flexible Android phone...

Well it's a good phone. Not my #1 choice but close. I'd rather get the HTC One X - 1280x800 vs 800x480 display, and I personally feel iOS > Native Android 4.0 > Touchwiz. But it's not deal-breaker stuff.

I must say the Nexus 7" is one Android tablet I'm really excited about ATM.

I had a similar experience, i sold my iPad 2 just before the iPad 3 came out and decided to try the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Have had it just over 3 Months, and am going to an iPad 3. Honeycomb isn't that great, not as polished in my opinion, i've tried a few friends Tabs with ICS, and i still dont like it, it is not as smooth as ios 5, nor even 4.3. The iPad just suits me better. Also some games aren't available on the Tab 10.1, yet are for other tabs, and alot of the games, just seem like blown up phone apps on the Tab 10.1.. I like HD apps and Games, so the iPad is for me, Not to mention the display on the iPad 3 is amazing

I 100% agree with you on the almighty, market-leading, full-featured, mobile trend-setting, open, customisable and flexible Android - but I want both the same OS on tablet & phone

Wife has iPad 2, I have iDroid (Acer Iconia) - guess which one I pick up when I want to lookup something quickly! Yep, the iPad - don't get me wrong, I like my iDroid - it's brilliant getting content etc onto, but when it comes to speed and smoothness - no comparison.
