Eating humble pie is a sign of weakness, if a high ranking member of the ANC ever goes to jail just do what everyone here does, move the goalposts and come up with a million reasonable explanations why you shouldn't eat humble pie.
Look at Nostradumbass here...predicting what people here will do.

I love the wording though...even acolytes and sycophants of the government realize what a bunch of inept, untouchable thieves and scumbags they are.

But literally ANYTHING is better than Whitey being in charge, hey....

From paywalled news 24 article this morning:
As the former president gets a temporary reprieve, he darkly warns that there will be trouble and instability in the land, and also threatens that secrets will be revealed.

A strident former president Jacob Zuma pledged yesterday that he would resist going to prison.

Bullsh*t. What did the court backtrack on? They haven't overturned their judgment.

They've agreed to hear his plea for a rescission - which he will have to prove in court.
Is he in jail?

Nope.

SA public was told he will be in jail today.

Court lied.

I have been thinking if Zuma goes to jail, do the bodyguards go with him? After all, the presidential handbook says Zuma’s pension and benefits will be paid while the former president is inside, so why not the bodyguard detail?

I voted he won't go to jail just based off the fact of how much he has been allowed to get away with already. But he deserves to be jailed.

So the court back tracked.

Well there goes any confidence that was left in the judiciary of South Africa.
The judiciary runs on bribes and corruption. Look for a non-corrupt court in Africa and you'll be searching for all eternity.

Not correct

If he does not present himself to a SAPS office today, the minister has 3 days to arrest him

A substantial difference
I'll come back to make the exact same post in three days.

Yup. By allowing this, the court is in fact allowing for the possibility that their first decision might not have been a correct one.

An interesting legal quagmire. He's applying to high court on Tuesday to rescind the arrest if he doesn't go to jail, but opinion is that high court cannot overrule concourt.

Got a source for that? You're making things up.

He has until midnight tonight to hand himself over, of which if he fails to do so, the police will have 3 days to arrest him.

Also his appeal has does not automatically nullify the court order against him;
As reported earlier by Daily Maverick, the former president has also brought an application before the Pietermaritzburg High Court, to be heard on Tuesday, to stay the execution of his arrest and incarceration. If it is found that the court has the competency to hear the matter, it is likely to reserve judgment, meaning the arrest order will remain in force.

He is trying to stall the process with his appeal, but it will have little bearing on the judgement;

Legal experts agree that, technically, in accordance with the Constitutional Court’s judgment, Zuma should be arrested by Wednesday at the latest. But it is more likely that the politically aligned SAPS will use the impending decision by the same court as an excuse to stall matters.

“The rescission application has zero prospects of success. So, it will be rejected on 12 July or soon after. And then we will be back to where we are now,” said Calland.

“What Zuma has brought before the ConCourt is a unique kind of review application and a review application does not stay the court order. He will have to apply specifically for an interdict to stay that order. The order remains in force and of effect, and he is liable to either turn himself in on Sunday or be arrested.

I'm watching ENCA, which is now prob the 3rd time today they've said there's no police presence nor enforcement at Nkandla and the crowds keep growing and they're not following any COVID-19 protocols or laws.

And it dawned on me, perhaps the police, and by extension their leadership is actually siding with Zuma? And they're been ordered not to do anything...Because that can get worrying very fast. Its basically the police saying to the government they're making their own rules now.

Would love to see Cele rock up at Nkandla with his hat and expensive scarf.

Just remember Cele is a Zuma man and Zulu. ANC before SA, tribe before ANC.

So here are a few scenarios.
1. Zuma takes advantage of the time given and submits a proper, respectful document to the concourt in mitigation oif his current sentence.
2. Zuma vanishes into thin air and claims he had to because of his illness and treatment in Cuba.
Any suggestions as to which is likely?
2 is way more likely, 1, in my opinion, is impossible legally, he was the president of the republic, sworn to uphold the constitution yet he showed contempt towards the judiciary and now claims his innocence. Just how "respectful" can one be in this situation?
