Nope the V series and S series are the same, same features, just a cosmetic difference and some extra menus on the V series...

And R2000 in price - but then they give u a R2000 voucher.
Pretty pointless then.

Here's a shock for you, we bought our Sony 40" FullHD LCD in Jan 2008 at R11 999 on special @ Makro. Its now on "special" this week...for, wait for it...R13 999. Go figure??? From that, I dont think its coming down!

They are coming down for sure. Not sure on the reason yours went up

V series is supposed to be better specced.
LCD TV's need a backlight to deliver the image, in sunlight the pic is bad.
LED TV's dont need a backlight as the LED's themselves provide the light, the contrast ratios are much better (black is blacker..) than standard LCD TV's.

The prices of both will come down, its a way of getting the people that have more money and less patience to provide the company with more profit, these people in turn "show off" their newest acquisition, and thats basically word of mouth advertising, and soon everybody wants on, gets one.
Then its the turn for those that cant afford it to buy it on credit.
After that wave, prices start to drop as other manufacturers have to reduce pricing to compete.

Please Note: Current LED TV's are NOT "LED PIXELS" they are only LED BACKLIGHT.

They are all still LCD panels with EDGE backlighting - LED's are around all 4 sides of the LCD panel producing the backlight source - thats why these sets are thinner.

The difference in colour saturation and Black levels are a function of the LED's wavelenghts when compared to CCFL.

Don't get caught up in the LED frenzy .... its still a LCD panel. LED pixel panels are a couple / few years down the line.
