Will the cheaper ADSL prices help local hosting sites?

With the better ADSL prices (uncapped) make hosting a south african website cheaper?

The cheaper prices are generally for ADSL without a static IP, and I think you need a static IP to host (not an expert on this sort of thing though).

However uncapped, unshaped, business lines with static IP's have also come down in price - hopefully hosting prices will follow suit ...

The standard ADSL lines hace a usage policy that states you are not allowed to attach a server in order to host services to the residential uncapped ADSL, that sux.

Are you sure it doesn't say your not allowed to attach a server to a uncapped ADSL line and make a profit? As far as i know you cannot sell your hosting service, but could use it for a live testing environment for yourself - non profit.

12.4 Unless you subscribe to a business package and you are permitted in terms of such business package, you may not resell the ADSL Services, receive any charge or benefit for the use of the ADSL Services or provide Internet access or any other feature of the ADSL Services to any third party or in any other way exploit the ADSL Service for any commercial purposes. The ADSL Service is intended for periodic, active use of the internet. You may not run a server in connection with the ADSL Services. You may not provide network services to others via the ADSL Services. In addition, you are prohibited from running servers for, including without limitation, mail, http, ftp, irc and multi-user interactive forums. You may not share your ADSL Services.

That pretty much clears it up

So no MAIL, FTP, HTTP, IRC and multi user forums, so that rules out most of the services
