Will the Left survive the Millenials?

No they don't. We are not dealing with a mathematical equation or a historical fact but with statements or opinions. This entire board is manically obsessed with proof for every statement.

As pointed out above, some things can be "proved" based on a mathematical equation or shown to be "true" based on historical fact, and other things can never be "proved".
@ Arthur shows just how the definition of a Liberal varies and to a certain extent how that definition has evolved over the years.

Clearly, we all have our own ideas about what Liberalism means to us today. Equally, none of us can say our definition will remain the same or has remained the same over the years if we are completely honest with ourselves.

As to Fascism. We probably all have in mind what fascism means in terms of what happened in WW II. Do any of us have an idea of how fascism has evolved over the years?

In other words, this topic is about opinions, were the need for absolute proof is NOT a precursor to have a debate, which may end up with us all agreeing on a definition for both terms as they apply to us today.

Because without having to prove a point, anyone can claim anything at all. Do you really want this forum to become an echo chamber of idiots agreeing with each other without any critical thought?

Proof of claims made is how to prevent that situation.

Again, one doesn't have to prove a point if it is an opinion. Take for example the absurd discussion this week about how many nukes Israel have. Nobody knows except the Israelis and they ain't tellin'. Therefore every number is an opinion that can not be proven until such time as they reveal it. Same with discussions about liberals and how they are affecting the world. It's opinions and requires zero proof.

Yeah or we'd all fall into the conservatard way of thinking that facts matter less than feelings/opinion on a subject

Facts matter when they are relevant. Like how many murders per capita per country. The topic of this thread is not something you can quantify with a number or "proof" but rather people's observation of events and how they perceive them.

Facts also matter if you're attempting to explain how you came to a conclusion, even if it's your own opinion. Like saying
"Modern day liberalism is doing its level best to become outright fascism"

Especially when it's a crock of ****.

You seem to support complete left wing liberalism. Providing you with the thousands of SJW PC shyte out there and them getting their way. Cough "Anita Sarkeesian" cough would simply be normal behaviour for you. So why try and show you something that you can't see?

I don't think any of those on the far left, ala RMF & BLM, would describe themselves as liberal. In fact they despise the term and the people who identify as a liberal.

They much prefer being called progressives. An important distinction I think we should make. Along with progressives we could also describe them correctly as the far left.

Prove your statement with facts, not statements of opinion!:crylaugh:

Now please prove to me that "modern day liberalism is not trying to become outright fascism".

Lol. And this is how the right debates. "You can't prove this nonsense I'm talking is nonsense."

If the nonsense you are talking can be debunked then yes, it can be proven as nonsense. When people debate their viewpoints of events no proof is required. I think you are being obtuse, I could be wrong, but that is my opinion. No need for me to prove it.

Perception is reality.

Forgive me for the small addition ;)

What would suffice as sufficiant proof? Whatever arbitrary expectations you might have...

Does it make a difference at this point? If people don't think you need to base opinion in any sort of fact then having a debate is pointless.
