I think I’ve got an account. No clue what the username and password are. Couldn’t care less about twitter, and especially now that Electric Jesus has bought it.

Don’t want to swear, but this twitter (from a twatter) has as much logic as an anc minister (of anything). Any social media rubbish, whether it’s shitfaced-book, twitter, ****, I don’t have any idea how many such platforms are out there (because I have none), any, YOU ARE THE IDIOT that is being used. Pharmaceutical and medical industries that never existed before are now flourishing, why, because of the human race’s utter stupidity thinking that “ah, we are so advanced, look how we can communicate”, phones, ipad or any other pad, one of these days even perhaps sanitary pads, while we are to ****ing stupid to see the destruction of an entire planet. Yes, musk included, ****ing battery powered cars, wow, how we save our planet. In short, piss-off musk. If you want to do something for the planet and not your ****ing bank account, research technology that benefits the entire planet, regardless of money and power and your (as well as all the other idiots) tiny little ego.

I will never forget this, how brilliant, Electic Jesus. Hope EJ can eat his ****ing batteries and cars, hope his money is seriously delicious. The day this planet dies (and at this rate it is not in the too far future) even this "****" will die of hunger. Long live the farmers!

I won't since I won't be of use to myself but think it is a reasonable cost to have the added benefits. Also, quite ironic the currently verified and most well-off individuals kicking up such a storm over having to pay to keep their blue check.

It's not about a celeb spending the money, the question is does Twitter benefit from having a verified celebrity on their platform, or is it the celebrity benefiting from Twitter?

You could argue both depending on the celeb I guess, but for verified celebs like Steven King for example who don't need Twitter to promote themselves, it means they are being used to bring millions of users to Twitter all paying $8 a month to Twitter.

In other words it's the principle. Do Twitter need the celebs or do the celebs need Twitter?

At current exchange rate, that $8 would cost me almost R150 a month. I have better things to do with my money. Also, I only use Twitter to keep an eye on Eskom and City of Cape Town for all the loadshedding updates. I can live without Twitter.

You will still be able to do that on the free version.

I use twitter a fair bit, but don't have any use for the paid features, especially since I don't actually post anything.

Free twitter isn't going away.
