Wimax via WIFI

Hey all,

I am in desparite need of internet and due to theft our cables were stolen 2 years back, with a big battle this last two years i have treid EVERYTHING to get my internet back up, but telkom just cant seem to help, the have even installed an underground line to my area (hillrise) thats is runs from petit it is 7km out, I live on a plot and the lines are about 0.2km into the plot areas cravel road give only 2 out of 14 houses access to the line wich is a total waste of money if you ask me...

I have came up with a last resort, we have tested with wimax at my house but get no signal due to one big tree in the way, but my friends house that is 1km away has half of the bars full and thats good enough for me! so i want to set up a wifi conection from my house to his house, it cant be hard because we are line of sight. Then i want to get a second wimax installed at his house.

So i was wondering if anybody could give the best wifi antenna to use for this, i know i should use a yagi but i want to know what one i should use that has about 1 km range, it must be 2.4GHz and prefearably 18dBi, i hope it is possible to do this under R3000 as i dont have to much money to spend atm.
If you could please give me the two spesific antennas needed, And also be very specific to what router i will net to boost them.

Ok excluding the legal stuff around Wifi over public roads for commercial use, here is what I would recommend.

2 x CPE kits from either Uniterm, Scoop or Miro. One kit for your house and one kit for you friend's house.

This will sort the link between you and your friend but now you have to tackle the Wimax authentication at your friend’s house.

You can either buy something like a Linksys WRT54G router to do the Wimax authentication to your ISP or you can upgrade the routerboard in the CPE kit at you friend's house to something with more than one ethernet port as it can then do the authentication.

I believe the whole concept of "public boundaries" in the sense of telecoms went out the door when the ECA came into effect.

To provide a commercial service, you would still need the right license from ICASA if that service is not exempted, but fortunately gone are the days when sending message via morse code with a flashlight would be "illegal".
