Win7 or XP for my PC

I use Win7_64 Home Basic , everything you really need is there if you don't network , use remote desktop . I don't really miss all the effects , and your pc will be faster without them .

Problems with Home basic incl. inability to set up networks .

You also can't connect external monitors.

Wouldn't that rather be a graphics driver feature?

Yes and no. Both Windows and the driver need to support it, and most drivers do support it already, including the generic drivers that ship with Windows.

EDIT: OK so it turns out Windows 7 Starter doesn't support multiple monitors, but Home Basic does. See here for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions

Due to networking not being the best ever between XP and Windows 7, I would use whichever the other PCs on the network are using.

I use XP at home still. I tried 7 but I think my LCD is a bit too old or the on board graphics aren't fully compatible with 7, because text constantly looks blurry and fuzzy.

Few of my favorite games work well in Windoze 7 >.>

Windows 7.

Windows XP is a dying legacy that is over a decade old.

Move on and get with the times. :)
