I want to Dual boot XBMC Live and either Win7 or XP, depending on which will run my games faster.
Most Modern game's I have is MW2 and Duke Nukem Forever.

what do you think XP or Win 7?

The XBMC Live boot will boot into a Sony Amp via HDMI which is connected to a 32 lcd TV.

The XP or Win7 boot will boot onto a 21 led Samsung desktop screen.

The spec is good enough for Windows 7, might as well go with Windows 7.

win 7 64bit. 32 bit will only use 3.5gb ram

Vista 32 used to only use max 3.25GB (till it got patched in a service pack) but I think since then on windows 7 32bit supports up to 4GB?

Eish, and all I had to do was enable pae on ubuntu x32...

Windows 7 64 bit. Forget about XP - it's over 10 years old.

Still use XP on some of my home machines. When run (and maintained properly) it works fine with anything that has 3.2GB or less RAM.

One of my best friends refuses to let XP go. He hates anything but XP. I have tried and tried, but he doesn't see the light :p

XP works fine - nothing wrong with it, except that it is ancient. When you make the switch to Win 7, you won't ever want to go back. Win 7 also works well on most machines that can run XP. You don't need a killer PC.

I have Windows 7 on my laptop...
Ubuntu on Wife's laptop
Ubuntu and windows 7 at work though I hardly ever use windows 7, except for 3d scans (as well as an xp virtualbox).

Mainly because I love the stability, ease of use and huge amount of work space.

I run Windows 7 Home Premium on my Intel Atom based netbook (Asus 1201n). It kicks ass. You will have no problem with your hardware set up and you will prefer it to XP :)

What case are you using for your HTPC? I'm deciding what parts to go for but the cases I've seen are a bit pricey.
