Win8/WP8 Rumor Mill... Post It Here!

Nokia Lumia 820 White Prototype Images 335MB RAM - Leak

Link - The Verge.

With that size of RAM could there be another device between the 920 and the 820, which perhaps has 768MB RAM?

Perhaps the 'Atlas' (which I suspect is the gaming phone with SmartGlass) will have bigger memory.

Samsung's 'Dual Display' Laptop (and other crazy prototypes) - IFA

Link - The Verge.

These Samsung innovations are unvealed as experimental designs at IFA 2012.

My question is 'does Samsung have patents for these dual displays of its own?' because the first that I saw of this type of device was the Asus Taichi.

Nokia Tablet Finally Here? - Rumor

According to Neowin, this story is an 'iffy rumor' so far.

However, my hopes have been exponentially raised that Nokia will unveil a tablet (perhaps a 7'' one) on the 5th of September.

Lumia PureView 'PureMotion HD' to Blow Your Socks Off - Rumor

To see what the new PureView on a Nokia Lumia 920 does, be online on Sunday (02/09/2012). Thats what this article says -> click here.

This story is on MyNokiaBlog but they say both WinRumours and TheVerge corroborate the story.

Hmmmh! That lady on the bike ad - is that PureMotion HD?

Watch video again.

Update:

There isn't anything related to the Lumia 920 PureMotion HD. Perhaps it was a little over optimistic of me to expect someone to come up with content taken by a new Lumia device.

Nevertheless, below is a link to an article demonstrating taking a video with a Nokia 808 PureView.

5 September 2012 - Nokia Webcast

Webcast starts at 10h00 EDT.

Nokia WP 7.8 in the Works - 'Glory'

With WP8 coming up, existing Lumia devices are only going to be given a WP7.8 upgrade and not the full WP8.

But, Nokia has decided not to make these the last of such devices.

According to TheVerge, Nokia is working on introducing a new WP7.8 phone sometime before the end of 2012.

Nokia 'Glory' will be a low end device to replace the Lumia 610.

Link.

The device is likely not going to be unveiled on Wednesday (5 Sep).

Just an interesting fact...

  • There are currently 15.9m people in South Africa with a Nokia cell phone. The next most popular is Samsung, with 6.2m users. Just less than 50,000 have an iPhone. Eighty20.co.za (03/09/2012).
  • Windows Phone overtakes RIM in USA (04/09/2012) - Link.
  • Lumia phones still ranking amongst bestsellers in the sales chart in Finland. Windows phone total user base grows to 13.79% (04/09/2012) - Link.
  • Nokia and BlackBerry dominate SA smartphone market. Out of the 10million smartphones in SA, just over 4million are Nokias while 4.8million are BlackBerrys. Android runs on just about 800,000 devices while iPhones? well see fact above. MyBroadband (14/08/2012) - Link.

Pretty sure most of those Nokia's are low end devices :/

Even with smartphones, Nokia (albeit Symbian devices mostly) is leading neck and neck with BlackBerry having 4.8million devices and Nokia having 4million. Android devices come in a long way behind with about 800,000 devices. The 50,000 of Apple are all iPhones I am sure and I am quite sure that even if we add all the iPads too, the total number of iDevices would not exceed 100,000.

Nokia Lumia 920 to Include: PureView, 32GB & Wireless Charging

It seems we will not be too disappointed (specs wise) by the Lumia flagship phone.

Apparently, thanks to advancements in photography technology, Nokia can market the 8MP camera to feature on the Lumia 920 as 'PureView'. I still would have wanted the full 41MP, but I guess I'll have to settle. It is still PureView.

Wireless charging is great and NFC is an added bonus.

Click here for the "Exclusive" story on TheVerge.

Update 1:

Click here to see what the wireless charging pad will most likely look like. The pad will most likey be sold through third party OEMs too - TheVerge.

Update 2:

Nokia Lumia 820 to include wireless charging, microSD and exchangable/express covers. Link - TheVerge.
