First of i use winxp :p

Ok, now my question is...Is there a patch of some sort that will make/force win98se to run on machines faster than 2.8Ghz? Windows CAN run in safe mode though, but thats it. I have tried the net looking for patches, but to no avail :(

Why would you want to use Windows 98SE on a machine thats faster 2.8GHZ? You are not going to see increased performance

lol...I know that :)
Its for a special reason...I run Norton speedisk from 98 to speedisk my xp machine ( fat 32 ). It takes about 15 min to defrag a 80 Gig Hdd like this ;)

Talk about convoluted thinking.
Anyway, try installing it on XP, run in compatibilty or thin install it.

Tried this way...doesnt have the speed as a standalone win98 :)

interesting..

do me a favour...install this patch
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q240/0/75.ASP
and let me know if it helped...

this patch was used in the past for amd 350mhz+ machines having timing issues in win98se...it may jsut be that the same timing issue appears using intel chips at >2.8ghz.

(guessing here)

Thanks...I managed to get the prob. It was the flippen BIOS. I had the Drives as "Enhanced" instead of "Legacy". Seems 98 is too old to detect it as Enhanced :D
Thanks to all the guys for your advice tho ;)
