I think the legal limit is 35%. Always went with this on my cars, never had an issue with night time visibility.

Was never done for safety or privacy (although it's a bonus), but to maintain a comfortable interior temperature. I can't imagine sitting in a car without it and being fried to a crisp.

I also assume because it blocks some UV that it's friendlier to your cars dash / seats etc too?

How long do they take to do it? Will I be carless for the day?
 
I went 15% on my bakkie, left and right. If I can't see at night I just open the windows one inch and peer over the top. Back window of the canopy was slightly less (30%), but that coupled with a 35% on the rear cab window gives me just sufficient light to reverse at night, plus I have a cam.

Those that preach to me about "legal" tints may be living in another country /planet. Metro have pulled me over plenty, but have never complained, so no enforcement. And if they did, fuggem, it's purpose is for the security that they have failed to provide.
 
I see that most places only offer 5 year warranty? Is this because the film is prone to decay and you just have to redo it every few years?

The warranty doesn't mean anything. If done right it wouldn't need to be redone.

Hence why some say five or 10 or lifetime warranty but it does not decay (as I got mine on for 6 years as still looks as good as when it was done. Besides me scrapping the the tint of the rear window.

R1800 - in and out - took about an hour.
Film: LLumar

Good service, even made me a cup of coffee while I waited. Will let it dry and check for any bubbling etc, but so far so good.

The pricing of 1800 bucks for a big vehicle like that in late 2023 sounds fairly reasonable imo.

I've had 35% on all my vehicles for the last 10 year, recently added a really dark tint on my Canopy as someone at the mall seemingly tried to break open it's door, probably like 20%, is that still legal? The cab is still 35%.

Even 35% means when I reverse park I lower my windows to see better at night. So yeah, any darker would make it very difficult.

Google says 35% is limit, tint place told me 20% is fine as long as not on driver doors (Google doesn’t validate this )

That is quite an interesting question. In my mind I would think that's probably a grey area, but a traffic officer may think that it would be illegal.

Didn't really have a choice but to go very dark, otherwise you can't store anything in the back. I already try not to park in open parking lots, try to always park underground. But you still don't want thieves to be able to look in. So 35% wouldn't have worked.

The reason I went darker on the back too (no parcel shelf so you can see what's in the boot - wanted to prevent this).

The odd thing is that some NEW cars come out with 15% privacy tint for the back - and that doesn't seem to be questioned?

Yip and then when you do the whole car the rears are extra dark.
