Ahh interesting.

NOT WHAT YOU WANT, but this what I do.

My tablets and phones are connected to plex so any material on the network or PCs are accessed via the tablets or phones natively.

And of it is something that's not on the home network then the phones and tablets can access it via youtube for instance.

So not sure what specifically you are trying to cast which could not be accessed from the device.

Thanks.

All that's easy. Doing it for aeons.

This is about using a new applet in Win 10 1607.

Also new and standard in 1607 is the remote assistance app, a sort-of basic TeamViewer replacement. Allows annotations on screen. Played with it this week. Perfectly usable.

Give me scenario how you would use this new applet as it seems useless to me refering to the cast one, (remote assistance is cool) or I'm just not seeing the scenario you guys are testing out.

My phone uses the PC's display, so I can drive apps on my phone by using the PC's display, keyboard and mouse. That is the screenshot I posted above - it's my phone display on the PC's desktop. Notice the Start window.

And I can continue to use other apps on the phone, either showing them on the PC desktop or on the phone only. It's a shared workspace, not just a screen mirror.

Extend my screen onto my tablet. On my laptop I can dev and on my tablet I can browse the internet or something else like have the db open.

I checked now this is neat

I already have 3 27" screens but I see I can add my Samsung note as a 4th screen.

It's cool, won't work for me, but I can start to see the appeal of it.

Okay so I'm not sure how but I got casting working from my phone to my tablet/laptop even if they're on a different network. Now I just need to get the laptop to cast to the tablet then I'm sorted.
