Windows 10 - Free Upgrade question

So, to answer the mystery question.

Started win10 installation. It asked for a key, said I didn't have one, and then asked me to pick between Pro and Home with, which looks like the original installation date nexr to it (20160718 or something)

Did it activate?

Looks like it got it from somewhere on the HDD or bios i guess

As I said it would, I think it creates a hardware signature it can activate against.

But it looks like it "picked up" the licenses before it was even connected to the interwebs :wtf: was during the setup (screen right after "enter activation key now")
