Windows 10 launch - a mostly-successful mess

The ""something happened" is caused by McAfee.
It does does not like autorun.inf files. or something like that...
Get rid of it of it, then reinstall afterward.

Why are you guys complaining about win10? It was a free upgrade and it's new. It's not perfect but then again a lot of operating systems aren't. We complain because 7 was astonishingly robust by the time it was EOL but it needed replacing. Win 8.1 was better underneath the interface than 7. I'll bet all of you are on 10 come year end.

Definitely before the free year is up... Haha! I went from 7 to 10 and enjoy the upgrade. Love the mulitple desktops.

Unless I get forced to by work, which I doubt will happen, I will still be using 7 come year end :D

Work is another thing all together. They won't let you upgrade for reasons. I once had a terrible laptop that they refused to replace so I installed Linux. It worked really well but we had a Microsoft Gold certified company running Linux which annoyed them.

Look, all I'm saying to everyone is it will be an amazing OS. Microsoft is putting everything into this OS and it shows, it's much faster and I like it. It's just new and buggy and that's fine by me, I'll wait for the patches and carry on using it till it's perfect

A very painless transition, I didn't even need to go looking for drivers like I did when I re-installed Windows 7. If you weren't using Classic Shell on Windows 8 I guess it's quite an improvement but otherwise it's quite meh.

That's because governments and business don't trust anything else. Some banks still want to use XP. Windows 7 is a dinosaur that everybody loves but windows 8.1 is better for gaming and has more modern features. Businesses paid Microsoft to extend the support because it was cheaper and less risky in their eyes than switching to 8.1.

10 is an evolution to the point that it may become the new 7 in time and I hope it does.

The best thing about Windows 10 is the recovery (or Go Back to Windows 8.1) option, only one month is given to rollback. I have no issues with Windows 10 other than the driver/application support.

Yeah Someone from China told me that government agencies in China does not allow Windows 8 or 2012. He also said that some of them are still running XP.
