Windows 10 Technical Preview - Insider Program

I just backed up all my **** and reinstalled with Win 10.

Works swimmingly for a tech preview. Got BF4 and wow running on there without any hassles, and of those 2 BF4 can be quite a fickle bitch. WoW will probably run on win 3.1, so that doesn't say too much :)

Had a problem AMD catalyst and audio driver though. The installers wouldn't run successfully, but when you update the driver via device manager with the extracted driver files it works.

Guys I don't know if it is just my PC or it is a "glitch" in Windows 10 Technical Preview.

So I am getting tired of using the start menu, I went and changed my setting so that I can use metro (Windows 8 Style UI) rather than the start menu. I have to be logged out and logged back in for this...fine.

Now when I access my metro UI, I see all the icons I placed on my start menu have been wiped. I thought these would carry over to the metro UI.

Also, I remember in Windows 8.1, if I press the start button + S, I get the Search sidebar thing that I can use to search for apps and all. When I use this, it doesn't show this - takes me to metro.

Koeks,

Report it to MS using the feedback app. Could be a glitch, but then glitches are to be expected in the tech preview, it is nowhere near ready for general consumer use.

Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9860 is out, download it now

Microsoft has released a new build, exactly like we said they would with build 9860, today and you can download the bits right now.

You can get the new version of Windows 10 by going to Windows Update and checking for the updates within that panel. If you need more detailed instructions, you can find them here.

This is the first major update for Windows 10 and while we have seen incremental patches go out, this is the first wide scale test of upgrading builds. Of course, Microsoft has been doing this for months internally with Windows 10 but do let us know if you had any issues with the process.

As always, we will be digging around to find all of the new updates beyond what Microsoft has announced. Much like with 9841, there are typically new features that did not make their way in to the public changelog; if you happen to find any, make sure to send us a tip.

I'll return when there is a RC1 build. Microsoft should pay you for being a bug hunter for them.

I get the idea ol' Joe Belfiore & team are not nearly as hardcore as the Android team....maybe it's just me.

Is it just my ****ty Wi-Fi or are other people having issues downloading the new build??
