Hi everyone. Windows 10 have the option to receive updates from computer on your local network or from computers on the internet.

I’ve selected the option to obtain updates from my local network but it seems as if updates are still being downloaded from Microsoft’s update servers.

My question is thus, how would I ensure that updates are received from computers on my local network?

what about the opposite;

if I have a really throttled and metered connection and don't want it trying to update itself all the time?

set it as a metered already; and it still trying to constantly update itself;
can putting zonealarm assist here?

You could disable automatic updates or choose when updates are installed. It would be easier than fiddling with firewall settings.

It doesn't appear to be possible to disable automatic updates, only auto restart.
Disable windows update service and enable it when you want to update your computer.

Ps. It will affect the installation of new Store Apps and possibly Live Tiles.
