Windows 10: when you can upgrade, how long it will take

If you feel you should be getting the Win 10 upgrade icon, but it is missing, this is a long shot, but take a quick peak under notification options, ie click 'customise' on the icon area,

or go to : Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Notification Area Icons

If you see an entry there entitled GWX, that's 'get windows 10' and you need to set it to appear in the tray, ie select 'show icon and notifications'.

What about us technical preview users. Do I need to reinstall 8 and then officially upgrade to 10? Or will the technical preview version upgrade to rtm.
