until they make it compulsory , as we all know how Microsoft rolls.
 
For us who mainly use laptop for browsing, emailing and office apps chromebook will be a better solution.
 
I ran the dev version of Windows 11 for a short time. I use a PPTP VPN to connect to my 200mb Mweb Internet in Cape Town, as I am currently temporarily situated in Auckland, and my DStv now was subjected to endless buffering, and I was not getting more than 5mb. Went back to Windows 10, and suddenly my line speed shot up to 40mb, (Not bad considering router is over 10,000km away) and DStv now is rock solid. I won't be switching to Windows 11 till Microsoft assures me that issue is sorted. I will rather migrate to Linux than sit with something that's half working.

Love 10 would also probably dig 11. Don't qualify. Mildly sad.
 
Anyone had success upgrading to Win 11 using a cracked Win 10 that's not been activated? Otherwise I might have to buy one of those R120 Bidorbuy keys :(

Missing nothing thus far.

It is like 10, except rounded corners, big scrolling diversions in startmenu and context menus, irritating taskbar, rounded corners recommended shite in startmenu, rounded corners... oh, and don't forget the rounded corners.

So stardock, I'm waiting for the installer to finish.
 
I still run windows XP hardened at work, and windows 7 hardened at home for gaming. No need to upgrade to 10 or 11 at all. Rest of my sensitive stuff is on Linux based OS (Not Ubuntu).

According to the Arstechnica review
the taskbar itself can no longer be docked to the top or sides of the screen. Files can't be dragged down to a taskbar icon to be opened by the app you select. You can no longer ungroup taskbar icons and now need to rely on hovering over each taskbar icon to differentiate between multiple open windows in the same app.

I have not tested 11 yet. but that sounds absolutely awful. The second thing I do with a new installation (first is removing the crap icons (store/mail/edge) from the taskbar) is to move it to the right side of the single screen as the vertical space on our widescreen monitors is more precious to me. Widescreen is often deadspace unless you have 2 open windows sharing 50% screen each at the same time. (I wish the browsers could do vertically stacked tabs instead of the 52 tiny tabs so maybe the less used stacked on the top and the 30 on the side with wider labels)

Then I ungroup taskbar items and set it to show labels and icon size small. Icons are slower to use to pick the app or folder I need with the way I work. I am not a casual user, not allowing me to drag to a vertical taskbar on the side, and not allowing ungrouping is terrible, if true.
 
Got offered the upgrade this morning. It's been stuck on 0% downloading for 30 minutes now. Think their servers are taking a pounding.

Don't upgrade then. People still play games on Windows 7.
