Windows 11 Support Thread

Nice! I was initially going to go with Arch for customisation but the learning curve is steep. Didn’t have the time. Looks like EndeavourOS will solve that issue… my weekend is planned.

Edit: on second thought I’m going to delay that experiment a few weeks. I have Fedora set up just the way I like it and don’t want to start from scratch right now.

On a Core2Quad or AMD A10 Windows 11 was still usable - however I have now found the limit. This 1.2Ghz dual core just does not cut it. I especially feel it since previously this spot was where a i7-4770K was.

Later this week I will be able to answer the question if more speed will solve this problem - but I doubt it and am leaning to core count. I don't think anything less than quad core is suitable for 11.

Windows 11 KB5020044 preview update released with 25 changes - Bleeping Computer

1669802903843.png

Microsoft has released the November optional KB5020044 preview cumulative update for all editions of Windows 11, version 22H2.

Today's non-security release adds 25 bug fixes and enhancements, including OneDrive storage limit alerts and fixes for an issue causing File Explorer crashes when closing context menus and menu items.

The KB5020044 preview update is part of Microsoft's November 2022 monthly "C" update, and it enables Windows admins to test fixes rolling out to all users with the December 2022 Patch Tuesday.

But, unlike Patch Tuesday updates, non-security preview releases like KB5020044 are optional and do not include security updates.

You can install this preview update by going into Settings > Windows Update and clicking the 'Check for Updates' button.

Since it's an optional Windows update, you must manually install it by clicking the 'Download and install' link (the preview update will only install automatically on Windows Insider builds).

You can also manually download and install the KB5020044 preview update from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Introducing Windows 12 - Visual Design Concept by Avdan

Windows 12 redefines what you can do on a personal computer.

With its new look and features, it gets you away from distractions and brings forward the things you love and care.

Windows 12 reimagines the desktop experience and introduces the biggest update to desktop since the desktop.

Designed by Kamer Kaan Avdan.

This video is a concept created for the purposes of visualising how Windows 11 could be changed in a future update.

This concept created using Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe XD.

This is NOT an actual software. I am not affiliated with Microsoft.

You speak like a guy running a low-end rig who cannot conceive of the actual capabilities of modern hardware.

I can absolutely deduce that. You could call it deductive reasoning if you were so inclined.

My car is running fine.

I change the fuel pump.

My car is no longer running fine.

Do I assume it to be a blown gasket, flat tyre or damaged ECU? No. I assume it to be the replacement fuel pump.
FYI, I have many "rigs" you sound like a Hillbilly Truck Driver. It was merely an exercise to see if Windows 11 could be installed on an old "low end" Laptop. I may drive a Honda 24V to the shops but could have a Ferrari in my garage. Now take your pills and give the Tablet back to Mummy. Good Boy

Nobody invited you to the conversation, Johnny-come-lately. Go away now, go polish your V-TEC.

Does anybody know why my keyboard and mouse disconnect when I try to install Windows? Has my Linux install become sentient?
New feature in windows defender detecting unwanted software and protects you by deactivating input.
