Windows 11 Support Thread

Don't know if this is a Windows 11 issue or a BIOS firmware/Driver.

This laptop doesnt have a sleep option anymore, I always used to close the lid and it went to sleep now ive noticed that there is no sleep option when closing the lid and from the power menu.

Updated BIOS, ran SFC /scannow, used DDU in safe mode and downloaded the intel GPU driver from Dell's website.

Same options for all drop down boxes.

Perhaps the motherboard/chipset drivers have got corrupted/need a fresh install.

This may help, disabling/enabling Modern standby can mess with the Sleep option’s visibility

Ai you legend, just had to put: reg delete "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power" /v PlatformAoAcOverride /f

in powershell and reboot, now sleep is in the power menu and in the lid settings.

👨‍❤️‍👨 No homo.

Latest Windows 11 Insiders update brings iPhone integration to the Start menu

Microsoft is testing a new addition for Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels, offering better integration for iPhone users. The new addition adds a side panel in the Start menu, allowing you to quickly see your iPhone’s battery status, access messages and calls, as well as a quick toggle for file transfers. These features were already implemented for Android users so it’s nice to see them coming to iOS.

Tried to transfer files from a Redmi 12, to a WIN 11 laptop - nothing doing.

Fired up the WIN 10, laptop and 10 minutes later, it was done and dusted ...

No idea, why, WIN 11, was a total waste of my time, a whole Saturday afternoon. 😑

Here's a weird one - on my Lenovo i5 12th Gen laptop (with Win 11 Home), I have two user profiles - personal & work - I had PowerToys available on BOTH profiles after I had installed it on my personal (main) profile - as I use it to reassign some of the keyboard keys.

Sometime during the last week - either a Windows or Microsoft Store update BROKE PowerToys - but ONLY on my work profile - it disappeared & the desktop icon went blank & had an error message saying that the folder didn't exist.

I went into settings, uninstalled PowerToys, then went to the Microsoft Store to re-install it - it gave me the option to do that - ran through the installation procedure, then threw up an error message saying it was unable to complete the installation...

Weirdly though, PowerToys STILL works OK on my personal profile...

Any suggestions on how I can get PowerToys to install on my work profile as well?

Get an Apple :p

Well - that was interesting - I just fired up the Patch My PC app on my work profile - it showed 2 app updates were pending - a new version of Chrome AND a new version of PowerToys - so I let it do the updates - and, VOILA! - PowerToys is now working again & my keyboard reassignments are back!... Seems like the problem resolved itself with the latest update. ;)
