Windows 11 Support Thread

I have also paused Windows updates (hopefully) for the next 5 weeks on my old 2015 Lenovo i3 5th-Gen laptop, as it refuses to install the 2025-10 Cumulative Update for Win11 25H2 (I used Rufus & the Win11 ISO to upgrade it from Win10 Pro 22H2 a week before the 14 October 2025 cut-off for support) and keeps on throwing up an 'installation failed' error... :(

Almost time for a new machine, and I’m seriously considering moving to Linux. Absolutely loathe ms.
Check out Zorin OS if you need a Linux interface with a familiar look to it... ;)

Another beautiful gift from the clown now since the forced update:
That was a bug in PowerToys v0.95.0 with their new 'Light Switch' feature - it was fixed in their latest v0.95.1 update a few days ago...

Light Switch

⚠️ NOTE: If you encountered issues with automatic light/dark theme switching before this update, try turning Light Switch off and back on to reset it. ⚠️
  • #42434: Fixed bug where Light Switch was enabled by default
  • #42434: Fixed bug where Manual time schedule was being overridden by sunset calculations
  • #42434: Renamed "Manual" mode to "Fixed Hours" for clarity
  • #42434: Created a new "Off" mode that disables the schedule but still allows the shortcut to be used
  • #42434: Fixed a bug which allowed the taskbar to be the accent color in light mode (this should only be allowed in dark mode)
  • #42774: Fixed a bug where light/dark times where not updating when switch between modes (Specifically manual back to Sunset to Sunrise mode).

Ive never experienced it before. first time time now with the new windows update. Either way, that is still Microsoft who gives the middle finger to the world whenever they do an update.

Windows Issues. Yes. Because one of their updates broke it,
If your latest 'updates' manage to install successfully, try running these commands in the CMD window (run it with administrator privileges) before you un-pause your updates again...

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC /scannow

The reason I stopped (paused ) the updates because I read online that it corrupts PC and has major issues. Yet they decided they will proceed. What bunch of incompetent corrupt corporate clown snakes.

Yes I should have a backup PC, but I am just trying to keep my head above water.

Now I have to cancel my meetings and tell everyone that their drawings will have to wait.

You doing it wrong, what i have done on my gaming PC and work laptop is set the feature target version to whatever the current build is in GPO, so it will never go past that. Currently it's set to 23H2.

It still does security updates but will not do feature/build updates.
