Windows 11 Support Thread

Thankfully I had better luck with my 'dinosaur' Core2 Duo desktop which I had recently updated to Win 11 Enterprise 22H2 - I downloaded a Win 11 23H2 English International ISO image, ran Rufus & got it to install successfully - this is as far as I can go upgrading the OS on this PC, as Win 11 24H2 or newer does NOT support my outdated CPU any more... it's now busy downloading & installing all of the remaining pending Cumulative updates... ;)

It's now busy doing the 2025-10 Cumulative Updates for Win 11 23H2...

Why would you use International english? Unless you use a UK keyboard. 🤔

Recently saw on LTT that when installing if you choose English Global apparently a lot of the bloatware isn't installed then

Just change to English whatever once installed.

My windows update is still stuck on the previous cumulative update and it doesn't want to update further. It just keeps on trying to download it. There is no way to cancel it.

WINDOWS SUCK.
I have the exact same issue here - the original 2025-10 25H2 Cumulative update from Patch Tuesday on 14 October 2025 failed to install on my Lenovo Intel 5th Gen CPU laptop (I had used Rufus to install Win 11 Pro 24H2 onto it & then upgraded it to 25H2) - same story with this revised update I tried to install this morning - it failed with the identical error message I got last week...

I have now paused updates for 4 weeks to see if the 2025-11 Cumulative Update solves this problem...

Don’t let your PC suffer—run these Windows commands regularly - MUO

Your PC works hard every day, running programs, storing files, and keeping you connected. Even the strongest hardware, however, can slow down over time if it isn't properly cared for. And nothing kills productivity faster than a slow or unstable PC.

Luckily, Windows comes with built-in commands that can help maintain stability with minimal effort.

With these commands, you can repair corrupted system files, scan and fix hard drives, optimize performance, and even resolve stubborn network problems. Running them takes less than five minutes, and the reward is a more reliable PC.

^ Like seriously :X3:

There's NOTHING wrong with running the command on an SSD

It runs a trim in literally 2-3 sec ... NO defrag is performed

EDIT: That said, in the ±35years of owning PC's, I have yet to see a difference in a fragmented & defragmented PC ... with the naked eye, it can't be seen ... it's marginal ;)
