I need to do this too. Not sure what it's called but if your computer fails you can restore everything back as it was - might be an image???
Macrium Reflect is one of the best, I think the free version will be good enough or you can find it on the high seas..I know you can create one, but until windows decided enough is enough. Are there third part tools that are more up to date and reliable?

The new Start menu is available as part of the October 2025 non-security update, and it is rolling out gradually to all users on Windows 11 version 24H2 and 25H2, alongside other improvements, such as the redesigned battery indicator.

A launcher like Flow launcher is the best in my opinion, they can also do so much more than just launching appsI remember being mad about the start menu changes in the beginning
But now, and probably as a result, I very rarely use it, instead my most common apps are pinned to the task bar and the others are desktop shortcuts.
They may as well get rid of it and I probably wouldn't notice.

Yuck!I hate icons on my desktop/taskbar ... have none. (besides tray icons bottom right)
All shortcuts for regular used programs are pinned to Nexus dock... im so used to this, that I miss it when working on other systems.
Well as long as you like it

To me it just seems like pinning icons to the taskbar but with more steps, the launcher just looks like another fatter taskbar you added above the original, so now when something is open you have 2 of every icon on the screen, maybe auto hide the taskbar?
To me mine just looks cleaner
