Windows 11 Support Thread

that's weird, I've had my DELL XPS17 9720 for nearly 3 years now, without any hassles at all, bar some over heating, when running some intensive tasks, which I solved by changing BIOS settings
I've had nothing but issues lately since the last big windows update. Just been downhill since then.

I've seen some blue screen issues with an Intel wireless card Intel 7265. One have to pause updates, update the driver and then only update windows.

Same issue on GMK K8+ and Intel AX200. Microsoft likes to install thier driver on Windows 11, causing WiFi & BT to stop working. You have to install Intel's driver and block Driver updates.

WhatsApp is logging more Windows 11 users out to push its new slow web-wrapper app - Windows Latest

WhatsApp is now warning more users that they’ll be logged out of their PC apps with the next update that starts from December 9, 2025. This is not the first warning from the Meta subsidiary, and it is likely a staged replacement of the old UWP WhatsApp with the new web-wrapper WhatsApp.

By the end of October, some WhatsApp desktop users got a warning notification from the most popular messaging service that they’ll be logged off from the app starting November 5. Windows Latest reported first about the announcement, which appeared just below the “Search or start a new chat” box on our PC’s WhatsApp.

The frustrating part here is that we have received the update by the end of the first week in November, and our initial impressions showed that the new Chromium-based WhatsApp uses 1GB RAM all the time, as opposed to the native version, which rarely crossed 100MB.

Now, the company is informing more users, who haven’t updated their apps the first time, that they’ll be logged off from the app to complete the update, after which the native WhatsApp will transition to the resource-hungry Chromium-based WhatsApp.

After the update, you’ll be logged out of the app, and you’ll need to open WhatsApp on your phone to log back in. The company promises up to a year of chat history sync from your phone.

To be clear, such a warning message isn’t in any way necessary for a regular app update. It exists here only because you’ll be logged off from the app. But, as you’ll see now, that’s not the worst part.

How bad is the new WhatsApp (Chromium) when compared to the old WhatsApp (native)

Windows Latest has done extensive testing on the new Chromium-based WhatsApp for Windows and has compared it side by side with the old WhatsApp, and we are absolutely clear that Meta can’t justify transitioning its millions of users on Windows PCs from a smooth native app to a laggy web wrapper.

In our testing, the new Chromium WhatsApp uses up to 7X more RAM than the old native WhatsApp. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the app were at least snappy, but as we expect from any web wrapper, the new WhatsApp is as sluggish as it gets.

Yup, uses more RAM and feels choppy AF.

Also noticed some bugs, turning off Audio auto download, you cannot open/download voice notes, it just spins.

Scrolling is choppy.

Microsoft’s AI chief Mustafa Suleyman has warned that the odds of existential doom are “nearly absolute” — the company could walk away from AI if risks escalate - Windows Central

Mustafa Suleyman says Microsoft has the free will to pursue superintelligence and AI under its new definitive agreement with OpenAI

1765686197360.png

In March 2024, DeepMind and Inflection co-founder Mustafa Suleyman joined Microsoft to lead its AI division, focusing on advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research.

Microsoft has been heavily invested in the generative AI landscape, especially after making a $1 billion investment in OpenAI back in 2019.

Since then, the AI firm has remained closely aligned with Microsoft, despite Bill Gates initially discouraging CEO Satya Nadella from investing. "You're going to burn this billion dollars," Gates warned.

Investors have raised concerns about defining a clear profitability path in the ever-evolving sector amid billion-dollar investments.

More recently, a damning report suggested that Microsoft's internal AI efforts aren't paying off, prompting the company to cut sales goals for its Azure AI products across the board. The report further detailed that virtually nobody is using Microsoft's AI products.

Microsoft and OpenAI renewed their vows under a new definitive agreement after months of tension and pressure from investors to evolve into a for-profit venture. As part of the new arrangement, Microsoft is now free to pursue artificial general intelligence (AGI) independently or with third parties.

Additionally, OpenAI can't prematurely declare AGI to sever its ties with Microsoft unless an independent expert panel verifies the claim.

It now appears the company may slow AI development if it comes at humanity’s expense. During a recent interview on Bloomberg’s The Mishal Husain Show, Suleyman indicated:

“We won’t continue to develop a system that has the potential to run away from us. And yet, I think it’s kind of a novel position in the industry at the moment."

Microsoft has made significant headway in the AI space with Mustafa Suleyman at the forefront, pushing for humanist superintelligence. The executive has been promoting the development of AI systems strictly designed to serve humans.

My top 17 Windows 11 features introduced in 2025 — personal picks from cleaner UI experiences to major PC gaming upgrades - Windows Central

A deep look at the most significant Windows 11 features Microsoft delivered throughout 2025.

As we approach the end of 2025, it's a good moment to look back at the many improvements Windows 11 has received throughout the year, most of which arrived through monthly cumulative updates.

Some changes introduced entirely new capabilities, such as multi-stream support for cameras, smaller Taskbar icons, Quick Machine Recovery, multiple clock support, Administrator Protection, the Xbox Full Screen Experience, and the addition of battery percentage.

Others enhanced existing features, including the option to disable the Drag Tray, a redesigned Start menu layout, better dark mode consistency in File Explorer, and more.

In this guide, I'm highlighting my favorite features and improvements that became available for Windows 11 in 2025.

Dont know if Im just slow - I know you could do internet searches from Start, but now you can also generate images?

1765711773334.png

Edit: Yes, I knew you could do it from Bing Image Creator which stores it in your Collections too. You could also do it from Edge's Copilot built in add on and you could also do it from the Copilot Windows app. I didn't know it does it from Start too.

I am curious with the direction of Start. Are they working towards an "Everything App" and maybe beating Elon Musk to the punch right under our noses?
