Windows 7 As Primary OS?

You argue like a 5 year old dude. lol. So Vista is perfect. Everything else is crap...

Hmm... says the n00b
Vista wasn't that bad... but it definitely wasn't any good either.

when did i say everything else was crap? Have not said anything was crap, xp had its time and place but compared to vista and windows 7 it appears crap.

Do you even argue out of interest? You seem to jump to conclusions without any real basis to anything you post. I am assuming you do not understand sarcasm as both mine and aqua's post were sarcastic but of course you never picked up on that now did you noobcake :p

Vista is not perfect but it sure as hell is not a piece of rubbish software like some people claim. Vista was as good as the pc you gave it, give it a nice fast pc with 4gb of memory and you will be fine. run it on a celeron with 512 meg ram and it will suck something bad. Vista though is yesterdays news :), windows 7 is everything vista should have been :).

Can someone please post a download link?
Think there is a local one somewhere.

It's not available anymore. There might be some unauthorised links stillavailable, but M$ have stopped the distribution of the ISOs as a whole.

That's true.. if it was free. :D

But if you consider the cost (about R3000 retail) and that on some hardware it still gives problems which is why Microsoft will be releasing SP2, so if you paid R3000 for Vista which is problematic you wait for SP1 ok now it's better but you still have a few minor problems which means you'll be waiting for SP2 and then by the time SP2 is released Microsoft will be gearing up for Win7.

So in all that time the OS you paid so much for still needed fixes for it and by the time it is expected to be fully patched you'll be asked to cough up another R3000 for a new version.

So from a cost point of view Vista is crap unless you're lucky enough to have a system with Vista friendly hardware.

The irony for me is that Vista ran great on my old AMD which has no Vista certification, but the system I built new had Vista certificate stickers all over yet it sucked.

So, while I have one machine dedicated to Win7 testing, I have only the 7000 release and, sadly, my 7067 torrent turned out to be a dud. I'm thinking this should be a good place to put out a call for something newer, can anyone help out with some 64bit newer release love? :o

Im downloading the x64 bit Windows 7 now from MSDN :) I'll gladly make u a copy if you want.

XP only got really good after sp 2.

Those stickers were a marketing gimmick.

If you have a good system and good drivers vista is a treat to work with. Win 7 will be better than vista was on launch day because unlike with vista the hardware manufacturers won't need to program drivers from the ground up. Vista drivers work under win 7 so there's less compatibility issues.

Most of the issues caused with vista were because of hardware and software manufacturers not using the time MS gave them to get their products up to speed with vista.

Hmmm Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools don't work. :(

Daemon tools pro not working under win 7 is why I am sticking with dual booting between vista and win 7 till the final release. The developers have said they will only be releasing a version that works with win 7 when the final version of win 7 is out.:(

DRM is not a windows things as far as i know, i can play all my pirated stuff without hassle :).

Wga is not a problem if your not pirating or you have a laptop edition so not sure what the big deal is about both of those but anyhoo. It is quite simple, connect to net, activate software and bam wga is never heard from again :), now of course piraters of windows will complain about wga because its annoying :p

Stefan most companies do not develop for beta.

Been using it since it has been released. Quite stable (apart from a couple of issues with antivirus providers), but that has been sorted.

All and all a good OS ... can't wait for the RC to come out :)

Not if you upgrade regularly... it's bam time to give Microsoft a call and ask for a new key, with Windows 2000 it was enter key and that's it no need to call or connect to the Internet.

what... a... pain.

Tell that to people that were informed that their 'legit' copies of windows were 'pirated'. If you dump your old PC and install windows on a new PC or MB etc you have to activate again.

All this DRM & WGA crap is only punishing legitimate consumers, the pirates always have a way around these restrictions.

The "problem" with Vista is that it's quite difficult to get used to.
Even somebody who knows their way around XP will struggle to get used to it.

If you went on a 2 day training course to learn how Vista works, you'd probably like it more than XP.
Trouble is, who has the time and money to go do that?

(btw, I use Leopard)

Alf infact vista is so similar to xp it is not even funny, the only difference is everything is all the over the place and while you feel totally lost the first couple of days, you do not need a course.

I found going from windows to mac was harder lol, damn that leopard system took awhile to get used and then i found out corel draw only works up until 11 :(.

I had a 15 min training course at the Apple shop which was helpful. :)
The help and support in Apple is pretty good, just the terminology u have to get used to.

With Vista, people who aren't that clued up with pc's (like my mom, sister, cousin's etc) are going to struggle and get frustrated.
I'm pretty sure it is better than XP if u take the time to get used to it.

Even going from ME / 2000 to XP took a bit of time.

Anything in life requires time hey alf, do you think people who went from windows 98 to windows xp had an easy time?

Mostly what happens is people freak out when they are taken out of their comfort zone :). I doubt your mom, sister and what not would struggle as it is not like vista hides the most stuff to make it hard for non IT people. It is just different nothing is hidden away from the noobs.
