Windows 7 cracked

Chinese hackers have cracked the activation codes for Windows 7, less than a month after Microsoft released the first copies of the new operating system to computer makers

Ja, I've been seeing this all over the P2P sites. Not gonna get that. I'm gonna get me a legal version.

Downloading Windows 7 from peer-to-peer websites exposes users to increased risks - such as viruses, Trojans, and other malware and malicious code - that usually accompany counterfeit software
Hehe, while sometimes true I think the undertone was a little more serious than that, lol.

Agree.

With what I'm hearing its worth it to go legal. Look at XP, gave us many years of good value.

If you don't want to pay then go the free OS route - LINUX / BSD. :D :D :D

No excuse to pirate.

Piracy = Crime

By committing piracy we have no moral high ground to critisize government etc for their abuse of power / criminal activities as we become merely another category of criminal.

I am running Windows 7 RC and is very impressed, got rid of vista forever. Will buy official once launched.

No reason to pirate. Go Linux if you are not willing to pay.

On my other machines Ubuntu / Kubuntu / Fedora

I know someone who is currently running this CRACKED version...No problems what so ever.Funny enough the dude looks very similar to me???

I take it you didn't hear, Windows 8 is expected to be released in 2011 / 2012

You mean legitimate version. Warez is not like child pr0n. It's not illegal in terms of criminal law.

It's ironic how those who pirate software are usually the ones always moaning about MS's constant attempts at anti-piracy mechanisms

I was thinking it wouldn't be long - but they went and surprised me. Cracked 3 months ahead of release ... poor M$.

Anyhow ...

... of course MS are only worrying about their users. Not their bottom line.

The government has a higher responsibility towards us. It is a caretaker of our welfare. It has to maintain the environment where we can all live healthy, prosperous lives free from persecution and fear and where we can improve ourselves. Irrespective of the citizenry the government has responsibilities.

As for moral high ground, no-one's perfect. If we were to be strict about it, no-one could criticise another person because at heart they do something which is 'bad' too.

I seriously doubt Microsoft mind if home users are pirating Windows 7. They make all their serious money off of OEM deals and site licenses issued to companies.

They'd rather have people using illegal versions of Windows than not using Windows at all.

MS may make the money out of the OEM's, but where do the OEM's make their money? Corporates and joe-public via the shops/dealer networks?

Anyways, not a huge surprise that it was cracked. The methods have been around for a long time, some more hardcore (and potentially hardware damaging) than others. The delay was probably in getting the OEM product key which had to leak.
