Hi

So the only reason Im not running RC1 is becasue I cant get Daemon Tools up and running. They apparently only gonna release an update after the official version comes out

However, there must be an alternative, that does the trick as well. I've read that either PowerISO or Slysoft Virtual Clonedrive are good options.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these on Windows 7 RC 1?

Thanks

thanx Monkey101 and Stickfigure, muchos gracias.

that's kinda weird though - on their forum the people were complaining for a new version which they won't do since win7 is still in beta...

sum1 should post there, lol.

How on earth can it work for some people and not for others

Its pretty clear on DT forums that they not going to release a "working version" until Win 7 comes out officially...

Damn why wont mine work!!! GRRRGG!!!

To those who have it working, did you just double click and install as default user, or did you right-click and install as admin?

It has to do with the SPTD part of Daemon Tools, build 4.30.3 or earlier had an earlier version of SPTD which doesn't work on the RC, SPTD 1.58 is the one that works and was only built in to 4.30.4.

AFAIK this will help Alcahol users too, as it uses SPTD as well.

can anyone confirm?

Ok I get it now... I have already had a FAIL install (but this WAS with the LATEST version), so Im gonna have to nuke and reinstall tonight. Can someone tell me how to get the SPTD component installed first?

Or is it part of the latest version? Coz I downloaded the latest version... whihc didnt work.

4.30.4 is the latest version. SPTD is part of the install, it's the part that asks you to restart right at the beginning of the install. Did you download from the DAEMON Tools site or another?

Ok I definitely got the latest ver.

Yeah, form the DT site. Basically, it comes up with an messae saying "this sortware is reported to be instable" or something like that, and I click go ahead anyway. It chunks away, and eventually tells me that I need to restart to complete the installation (which is normal) but then when it restarts, it does nothing and nothing is installed. I can restart the installation, but it just does the same thing. I am admin, but Im not running the install AS admin... do I need to?

thanks for the help

On an unrelated note though, I have downloaded the new SPTD version from their site and did an uninstall using the downloaded file, reboot, reinstall and that sorted a failed install on a test machine I had running...might work for you too.

Installing as admin would be advisable.

To help with the uninstall incase unclear go to their FAQ section and check the question "How can I remove SPTD driver on 32-bit OS?" or "How can I remove SPTD driver on 64-bit OS?"
