Windows 7 design inspired by Mac OS X

....is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics. We've significantly improved the graphical user interface, but it's built on that very stable core Vista technology

heh.....heheh....

which is far more stable than the current Mac platform, for instance.

pfffft!! bwahahaaa!! :D :D

You mean from Unix

You mean Windows 7 took a unix idea. For those ignorant mac users that actually has no clue. Mac OSX is actually a direct copy of the Unix system (not linux).

Timeline, Spaces, etc etc etc is all old Unix Serverware technologies, which apple just brightened up to make it look nice.

But alas, most of Mac OSX is from Unix.

and BOOM, another windows advert on this page. :D

Yes. In fact it's impossible to tell apart OS X and any other *nix

For those ignorant about Unix, there were and are many different Unix variants, and many Unix-like systems. Darwin, the Unix under the MacOS X hood, is open-source.

To say "most of Mac OSX is from Unix" is thus very simplistic. Furthermore, the graphical interface of MacOS X is just way ahead of all the others out there, including the gaudy cheerful Win7.

Even XP have some "unix" in it. Just look at the directory where the hosts file is stored - "c:\Windows\system32\driver\etc". "etc" is pretty much a unix thing.

It very quickly came to light that the person who said this isn't even on the Windows 7 design team, but as you can imagine, the internets got hold of his comments and now it is all out of context.

That's why you should always take fanboi sources (appleinsider) with a pinch of salt.

"Inspired by" and "copied" are two very different things.
This whole discussion is so unbelievably goofy. But then I s'pose that's what happens in the Age Of Advertising and The Corporate Brand, where likes and dislikes are driven by superficial issues. Interesting to see the knee-jerkers jerking their knees again. And again. And again.
