Windows 7 Network issues

I have a Lenovo SL510 laptop running Windows 7.

This laptop is able to ping other computers on the network and they are able to ping it.
But, it is not able to connect to any shares on any computers/servers.

Strange thing is that other computers can connect to it (using C:\$ ).

Its able to get to the internet and the intranet, its just not able to access any shares.

I have tried it in safemode with networking.
Turned on File and Printer Sharing + Network Discovery.

Not sure what else to try now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's an article here on networking Windows 7 & XP systems. Have a look, maybe you missed something (also check the comments).

Then it has to do with your permissions, which should be defined on your Domain Controller.

This may sound silly, I also had a problem with mapping of drives to a 7 PC acting as a server. I had to turn the Windows firewall off to get it to work.

That would make sense as the problem but the Windows Firewall is turned off in the domain policy.
