I hope someone can give me some ideas.

I installed Windows 7 64bit on my machine and bought a new CPU.

My configuration is a Foxconn Mars with a Core 2 Duo E7500 and 4GB DDR2-800 RAM.

Problem 1: Only shows 3.2GB available RAM
Problem 2: CPU experience index is only 4.1, my laptop is 6.1 with a slower CPU.

I noticed during the installation that at certain parts it hung for 5 minutes at a time.

Anyone had similar problems?

If you're only showing 3.2GB of ram you're not on 64bit windows OR your system is not 64bit capable (though your CPU should be from what i remember)

I am 100% sure I am on 64bit Win 7, and my CPU is 64bit capable as well. 2.93 Core 2 Due 1066 FSB.

It should be showing 4gb, possibly 32 bit?

What version of windows 7, loads of dodgy copies hangin around.

Shred if you could just do the following...

In Control Panel -> System

There should be a set of details under the heading "System" in the middle.

One of the details is "System type: "... what does it say to the right of that?

System Type: 64-bit Operating System

And your (potentially) onboard graphics isn't using the 800MB for shared graphics memory?

Foxconn Mars does not have an onboard graphics card, there's no VGA plug at all. So I am using Gigabyte 8600GT.

Someone above mentioned that the BIOS could potentially not be 64-bit aware... never seen this myself but it may be worth looking into?

MS has managed to stump me this time - someone else can take over from here - good luck :)

Thanks, I think I will look at flashing the BIOS.

Hmmm a mobo that can take a 64 bit cpu but cannot actually do 64 bit?

Guess you should maybe buy asus or gigabyte next time then.

run dxdiag.exe and clcik on display how much memory is being used

on my 8600 gt 1024 ram is being used and i know i only have the 512mb version of my graphics card aviable on my card 512 ram is also missing on my 4 gb ram and also runing 64 bit windows 7 .

this is where i found the missing ram.:)

I think so. I got this Mars for R300 when it was retailing for R2k so I just used that. Maybe I should try my old Intel board.

Just make sure in the bios...my asus board has a setting in the bios i had to change to see all 4gigs after installing windows 7 64bit

It's a nvidia feature/marketing hack, it uses system mem for the gfx, usually on the lower end cards, it was mentioned before that it looks like a 32-bit system. The 64bit version wont install on a 32bit system if I remember correctly, you mentioned that you went to buy a new cpu, what was the old one?
