Windows 7 put to the test

bootloader - another piece of software made redundant by the awesomeness of Windows7.

I should warn you, I am on a Windows7 high here - it really impressed me a lot with the smooth upgrade from Beta to RC. Something that would not have been possible in other OSes because they simply cannot run the vast magnitude of stuff I have on my workstation.

Question is....

puts on sunglasses

...Would you actually pay for it?

I've already decided it's not worth more than R1000 even for the basic. :p

Yes, I would pay for it but probably still use a VLK pirate version purely because it is much easier to chop and change things if you do not have to worry about activation nonsense.

Oh, and as for my workstation, we'll have more licenses for Windows7 that we will be able to use - one of those nice benefits of being a gold partner :p

I am going to pay for it :), well sort of :p

Activation nonsense you speak of is that the 20 second thing they ask when you first load windows. Yes roux i must admit the 20 hour process of activation makes my life hell. Damn i have heard people have killed themselves during the process because it takes so damn long and it always bugs you after you have activated it.

IBIWISI

See if you really thought Windows was that great you'd buy a family or business license and activate as much as you want :p

No thanks... I'll laugh at the pirating fanboys.

Aqua do you think linux would exist if they started charging for it?

Lets not forget people who pirate are just as cheap as those who want stuff for free :p

oooooooooooooooooooo a free OS let me use that rather because i don't have to pay for it, pretty much the same us piraters if you ask me, cheap skates we are :p

Don't get me wrong choice is good, Windows 7 is good... but not really going to be a good purchase for me if I'll only use it for games and iTunes, Linux has me sorted with the rest.

Not the reason I switched, I switched to Linux because of Vista crashing all the time and for not liking my mobo/ram combination. :p
Linux saved me, I'm a born again penguin.

Did anybody successfully upgrade from Build 7000 to Build 7100? Setup tells me to get lost when I want to upgrade from Beta to RC!

Gold fartner?

So I had some free time to put 7 to the test and I'm very much impressed, boot times are fast, my desktop feels fast but I installed the new nvidia drivers for 7.. only thing is that the xonar D2 does not work, looks like I need an older driver.

They improved the usability, much more user friendly, I don't have to hunt around for options/settings.

Aqua you should try running it as your main OS and spend a lot of time on it man, my first impression was that it is not all that good but i forced myself to use it as my main OS and man o man i love it now.

I love the taskbar, omg all the windows sit in one block, i can now dock it which is awesome. The speed of my windows 7 is mind blowing, booting up used to be a drag but now i boot up and by the time i have switched the kettle on its booted :)

Stickies are awesome, putting 2 windows side by simply dragging is amazing. This is the finest OS on the market by a mile i think. I have never been this impressed by a windows OS.
