Windows 7 put to the test

A yard stick that shows how slow microsoft is in comparison?

Hate to break it to you but not having to bring our a new forrestland creature inspired release every second month actually makes them look more solid than Ubuntu.

LOL yea but i don't mind them taking their time because they have a real winner here so they must take time get everything fixed up and release it a solid OS that does not need 3 sp's to fix it which at the moment looks likely not happen :).

Someone need to test bluetooth compatiblity with windows 7 cause mine works but that yellow triangle is a bit irritating even though everything works perfect.

LMAO, sure mate...

PVR on one workspace the rest open for abuse.
:p

Sure looks like windows - but don't be fooled by the looks of it. These cheap chinese clones are really good on the outside, but try running a Binary-of-the-Best (win32s/x64) and you will soon see that it has nothing but fanboihogwash under the hood :p

The only windows clone you see there is the wallpaper :p

The rest is pure, solid, beautiful FOSS.

And the only win32 app I use daily is either Firefox or Opera, both have native x64 Linux versions and run in my biased opinion better, for the w32 only binaries virtualbox with XP runs as good as native, but I prefer to give Linux control of my PC to avoid the unexpected BSOD or crash.

Are you running Windows 7 on your netbook?? Whats the specs of your netbook and whats the performance like?

Well the netbook is dell, 1.6 atom 1gb mem 8gb ssd. I formatted xp and loaded windows 7 and it runs better in my opinion.

Looks amazing just like it does on pc, runs fast. Only problem is space obviously on a 8gb ssd but i have a 16gb sd card for storage so thats all good. Boots fast as well, a lot faster than xp.

I love windows 7 on my netbook, insane compared xp in performance and looks.

Guyz, can someone host this on local server? DVD is really not an option to use international bandwidth.

Even better where can I get a DVD in PMB or Durban area?

Thanks
S

Just finished installing on eeepx 904hd.

upgraded ram from 1gb to 2 gb, rest is Celeron 900, 80gb harddrive.
definately faster than the xp home, which is quite impressive.

Only device that is not working is the quick buttons, dont use them anyway. Otherwise everthing else 100%

Display device on eee pc is the bottleneck, but you are not going to play games on a netbook.

Opens open office calc first time in 4.5s, second time in 1.71s

Battery life on xp was around 4-5 hours, time will tell on this.
